The best way to get better at art full stop is to not just practice but to understand. Like math or science you can memorize theories and formulas all day. But you won't be truly good at it unless you understand why the formulas or why the theories. When you understand the why of something looking good or working it's more impactful than memorizing that it just works. Studies like these are vital coupled with research. Such as how light works, and face anatomy! Good study and very motivating.
I look at it this way: Perfection is worth nothing because all it means is that you have peaked and you will never be better than what you currently are. Love your mistakes, if you want to fix one or another, sure thing, but don't stress over them and let them some of them thrive: Make a mental note, avoid the mistake the next time you draw something again. they are nothing but future reminders of how much you grew. They're small, neat things to look back at in the future, that tell you how you evolved.
TLDW: Creating in general is a gacha system where every form has varying levels of gambling where you can increase your chances of getting something good by grinding that specific form
On a journey to make a wlw webtoon but after I finished the novel I realized that I need to draw it so it will probably take me years before I start on it lol.
my grandma and dad had some of his paintings and they told me as a kid that they would be worth a lot of money. They aren't, and the pieces are so mundane and lifeless that I can't even remember what they looked like despite growing up with them. They just blended right into the outdated wood paneling. Not a soul that visited ever had their eyes drawn to it and it become a conversation piece. It elicited no emotions, or feelings, or thoughts. Being reminded of this art now, I actually thought it was an AI image before realizing it was kincades art.
I learned how to do this by taking ap art classes in high school and forgetting to do my required sketch book prompts until the day of. I can draw a realistic portrait in a matter of 5-10 mins. And its detailed. Its messy but hey its detailed.
Not gonna lie, I've started calling you "Pikat-sensei" because not only your technical knowledge is very useful for me, but usually, you just got the right words that I need at any given time. I'm very grateful for that.
Ive tried to understand of the issue of people not liking the art they do froma video like years ago Still dont really get it... *stares at propaganda artists
I am trying to get into digital art with Procreate, and I am currently struggling with perfectionism. What I am currently trying is lower my eraser opacity and (weirdly enough) listen to Final Fantasy music. The low eraser opacity is to imitate ‘eraser’ mark on physical paper, and the music reminds me of Yoshitaka Amano’s art. Both of these things help free my mind from my own perfectionism and literalism. Just thought to share this if it could help someone.
I’ve never been able to identify exactly what about Kinkade’s art gives me the uncanny valley ick but I think this is definitely it. The way the color values are feels unnatural. And not in a fun fairy fantasy world or dark moody dragon fantasy world. But in an unearthly unnatural way. It would be a really good set for a Coraline esk horror story/movie/etc. It’s eerie, while putting on a false face of lightheartedness and whimsy.
This is how I always thought about sketching too 😅 it’s totally random what I’m going to draw until I do it. Sometimes I hit the drawing tablet and nothing sticks, and I just have to try again tomorrow. But it’s true that as you draw more, you get better and more and more sketches start sticking. So keep trying 💪
I’m only 11. How am I supposed to know this? I don’t even understand what you’re saying at this point please help me. I’m raging right now. I can’t understand anything. AHHHHHHH!
i don't think it's because of the things he did, like the comments said, actually at first glance at the painting, I actually found it unsettling and even uncomfortable to look at... (I'm not a professional artist or anything, i just sketch sometimes)
