I always loved Frankie Goes to Hollywood and Pleasuredome was an epic album. For me, the baseline in Welcome to the Pleasuredome was the driving energy and the melodic centerpiece to the whole song - extending beyond just a basic rythym foundation for the other instruments. Great cover and well executed!
All time top spot Rush tune for this long time fan - it was 1981 - I was a freshman in HS and hearing Moving Pictures fir the first time blew my little mind! Tom Sawyer Red Barchetta Limelight WITCH HUNT - (Actually heard them play witch hunt live at MSG in '84-85 - A rare live track) And at the top - The Camera Eye. The signature changes - the pulsing beat pushing you ever forward to a Tale of Two Cities. I hear you loud and clear and totally get it lol. I was 11 when this came out, bought the vinyl. Never had headphones at the time but at least had a hi-fi. I would pull the speakers onto the floor and put them either side of my head, so I could listen to this album while the rest of my family slept. Good times. Superb bassline from Brian to mirror Colin's original score. But I've always thought that XTC also needed a less melodic, more rhythmic bassline to augment Colin's inventive 'lead' bassline style, especially on some of the funkier numbers. On some of the tracks, the overall bassline comes across as a bit thin. Does anyone else get what I'm saying?
Funny you should mention that. I usually prefer doing videos in monochrome but I wanted to show off the sticker on my bass. I also run my own Etsy shop, so it was a shameless plug on one of my products. Thanks for the comment though, appreciate it!
What sets this apart from other covers of this song is the whole vibe. My days the timing and feel is absolutely spot on (drummer here) and the tone is sweet!!!....there's no jarring if you get me :-) EDIT: Highlight for me: Coming out of the Mid 8 - 2:09 through to 2.16 - Beautiful!!!!!

Stacked fourths can be played a variety of ways, and the term sleight of hand is applicable. I admire his efficiency of hand movement. No wasted energy there and I think the notes are correct.
