I’m about to attempt a very similar build with my 1999 xr80r and my new predator 212 modded with racing parts, I’m also doing a centrifugal clutch and some weight mods so total weight will be about 130. How fast you think it’ll go?
What camera did you use? I'm not spending the gopro money either, especially with all the faults that they have. What you recorded here would be perfect for what I want.
@@matthewdubay6409 Good deal. I bought a very similar one a while back and it was worthless. Your vids here look good to me, so I'll give it a shot. Thanks!
For anyone considering buying a trailer. I just went through a nightmare and not sure it's finished. It took a total of 3 stores. I went online to look for the closet store that had heavier duty one in stock. The store closet to me had none, so I went to the second closet. They told me they do not have any. They had one sitting up front on display. It turns out the one on display they are counting as inventory. I told them I'd take it and they told me no. They know these trailers are often hard to find so they trick people into coming into that store location for the trailer, only to be told they actually do not have any, even though it's sitting right in front of everyone as a display. Very crooked or at least dishonest. Anyhow, they at least call another store but it's pretty far. They confirmed they had the trailer I wanted in stock. What was interesting is the guy was clear to me that they had both matching boxes. At the time this seemed odd to say but I didn't pay much attention to it. I get to the store and pick up a couple of items and tell them I'm there to pick up the trailer. They bring it out in two boxes. The guy gets nervous because he has to fill out the title stuff. Had a 'how to' binder, I assume the store created so the paperwork gets completed correctly. It was a disaster. He was coming things out and stamping in the wrong place. I was like hey man are you sure you know what you are doing. He asked a couple of people for help. They assured me all is good with the paperwork. I ended up going to the store next to me to have a manager review because it looked off to me still. She made a correction but no stamp in front of the title. I went to get the title and registration a few days later. They basically laughed at me. Told me to get an affidavit and correct the stamp location. I went to the store closest to me again for this. She was very helpful but had to call the store manager in the place I bought it from originally. I went back to get it registered and after a lot of people reviewed the paperwork they decided to do it but advised it could come back later as not valid. So it was a nightmare going through all this. Lots of my time wasted. I hadn't even put it together yet. Now get this. I open the large box with all the parts because I wanted to paint it with a paint that would not fade like the factory paint does. What's odd is i unpack a front cross member. In my head I'm like oh wow, I thought this only came with the light weight version of the trailer. I'm like sweet, they upgraded. I take all the red parts out and paint them. Looks great. Lots of time spent on it. I planned on putting it together this weekend. Even though I've watched at least ten videos on how to put it together I decided to read the manual. I almost crapped myself. The manual is for the smaller trailer!!!! They gave me the wrong trailer!!!!! I paid for the heavy duty version and they gave me the lighter version. Wth!!! It turns out this goes back to the comment about two matching boxes. They gave me the small box of the heavy trailer which has the wheels and springs. The large box is all the framing and axle of the lighter trailer. What a joke! I've put so much time ahead work into this already without even assembling it, even have a wood deck purchased and cut. I can't return it at this point with all the registration fees paid, the frame painted and the store being an hour away. I will put it together and see how it turns out. Not happy about it at all. This also means the next person will get mixed boxes, or maybe it happened before me and I got the mixed boxes. This is just a warning for anyone thinking of getting a trailer. First, call the store to see if they are trying to be crooked by showing a display as available inventory online. Two, when they bring out two boxes make sure they match! If you make it to three, demand a manager completes the paperwork and that the manager goes slow. Any corrections or scribbles will require you to go back and get an affidavit later. If someone from Harbor Freight contacts me and makes this right I will let everyone know. I will be sharing this in many places to get the word out.
@@matthewdubay6409 here's my concern. The exhaust will cool before it can exit the chimney. This will not only cause back pressure in the flue but if there is the tiniest hole anywhere it will leak into the house. I'm sure that thing has some sort of directions .
Thanks for the tip. I do have carbon monoxide detectors on every floor. No alarms going off yet. Also the is a clean out in the bottom of the chimney it pulls a pretty strong up draft. But we will see
shimming the needle doesnt make it richer on the top and bottom rpm range, mostly the middle, you should really re tune the slow jet and main jet too. can vary depending on elevation too.
@@matthewdubay6409I highly recommend you do a carb swap instead. It will take a bit of time jetting, but it will get really fast compared to stock carb. Get a Genuine OKO PWK28. If you like Mikuni more you can get a VM26-606 that one is round slide however it still delivers great performancs and are more forgiving to changes in elevation and wheater. If you want to go all out you can get the Mikuni TM28-1 pumper. That is essentially the same carb that was used in the old 1986 dr200, when dr200's came with good performance from the factory. These days they are completly nerfed stock, luckily it is easy to fix with carb swap, new exhaust and optionally an Intake mod or pod filter.
i bought it from my local harbor freight. but if you can get the higher capacity one if you can instead of this one, 1195lbs vs 1790lbs. use this link to find a store near you. www.harborfreight.com/1195-lb-capacity-48-58-in-x-96-14-in-heavy-duty-folding-trailer-62666.html?ccdenc=eyJjb2RlIjoiMTcyMDQ4MTIiLCJza3UiOiI2MjY2NiIsImlzIjoiNDY3Ljk5In0%3D&campaignid=20737678297&adsetid=156191194258&product=62666&store=478 bigger one: www.harborfreight.com/1720-lb-capacity-48-in-x-96-in-super-duty-folding-trailer-62671.html?ccdenc=eyJjb2RlIjoiMTcyMDQ4MTIiLCJza3UiOiI2MjY3MSIsImlzIjoiNDk0Ljk5In0%3D&campaignid=20737678297&adsetid=156191194458&product=62671&store=478
Hey Matthew is there any chance you could tell me about the DG exhaust and the Rear rack and maybe even link to where you found them, would be a big help cheers😅
You really need to prospect all your Brook crossings for gold. Do a bucket from the best spot you can see. Keep track of what you find no matter how little or maybe none at all . Make a list of the locations. PEOPLE WILL PAY YOU MONEY FOR THIS LIST. Make a simple paper back booklet. Call it (Wheeling and Gold ) or whatever. Be truthful of what you find. They will sell themselves
Great sounding exhaust! When you went from the stock exhaust manifold to the header, did you have to get the computer reprogrammed to keep it from throwing a check engine light for the O2 mixtures?
Awesome sounding ZJ! I have to agree and I'm looking into the same muffler for my '95 now. Did you experience any seat-of-pants feel from increasing the size of the TB? Just curious and trying to accumulate data.
Sounds like you need to find somebody to take care of that machine for you. You can clearly hear the fuel cutting in and out. To answer everyone's question yes a Polaris 450 will do just fine in the sand.
I hope so. I'm sure I can get it running, but I hope the generator end isn't all rusty. gonna pull the valve cover tomorrow and see if the 2 stroke oil helped.
