Just because you grown a person doesn't mean that others will grow with u. Some ppl just stop growing, even those we hold in high regard. Common sense isn't so common anymore.
Yes indeed he was while president. He would run again years later as a member and founder of the progressive party. This would only lead to a Democrat victory however as all the progressive party did was split the republican base not unlike the libertarian party of today.
