Top tip for beginners: go to a specialized windsurf shop for advice. Next, after having learned the basics through lessons on a large beginner board and small sail on flat water, rent different kinds of progression boards. You will discover what you like and want to do on the water. Don't be in a hurry to buy new kit; you'll probably outgrow it in a year or get frustrated and progress more slowly.
Check out the Philip Koster tack on his youtube channel video "Windsurfing at the step" at one minute ten seconds in. Philip Koster lets go of back hand on boom as he goes forward and with that hand grabs the mast below the boom clamp, then stepping round he lets go of old side front hand grip on boom and with that hand grabs new side of boom near harness lines. It also works ok to grab boom near bend in boom. I have tried this technique and have had far more success. It is much easier. Even if you try the Philip Koster tack on a big board with big sail in light wind going slow it seems like the most obvious, natural & easy thing to do, you don't even need to hurry to grab the new side of boom, let sail do its own thing for a few moments. I found it cracked the problem of tacking directly into choppy waves. Tacking on smooth water is more forgiving of various techniques
It is, I promise you. But if something goes wrong you might get to land flat on your boom and generally have the option between either breaking it (or the sail) or hurting yourself. Anyway it is, on the whole, the easiest type of loop
Very good coaching Collin 👍🏻🕺. I enjoyed all 1 hour 15 minuttes 👍🏻. What board do you use, the most often? Whas is you weight to board ratio for the 89 L and the 104L?
Very useful video. Re positioning technique of the board and sail at the end of the video was really a great tip. Will try it next time. Thanks so much!
Hey, thanks for the comment, super happy that you found it useful. Let us know how your next session goes. If you use it and have a better time any media you post please hashtag #wscmademedoit. Cheers
Tabou Rocket wide 120 litres would be an excellent user friendly first freeride board or Fanatic Gecko 105 litres also fantastic but a wee bit more challenging but very similar to the Tabou rocket wide 100 litre. Depends how tall and what weight you are though. I haven't tried the Starboard Futura or JP magic ride but have read they are also great / similar 70 cm wide or more makes for easier gybing. Below 64 cm wide and you are going into expert territory.
I picked this up by pure chance while sailing, it makes sailing a hell of a lot easier, we never knew the name just called it a carve tac since we carved into it.
i want to buy a complete wind surf but i want something ultimate . thats i never regret could you recommend me a product from your store or any information you have

My biggest problem is, when I lay down my sail, i can't get it up. It stays down. Any suggestions? Maybe it's just cause I'm to light? I only weigh 50 kg and driving a 7,8 north ram?!
hey buddy hope all is well!! the lay down mmm you are a small guy and such a big sail, try to swing the sail more swing it back and then swing it forward, if the clue keeps hitting the water you need to pull your front arm forward first and then across your body keep it pretty much stright! does that makes sense?
+Windsurf Coaching that makes much sense.. Thank you very much for your answer. But I see AL small problem in your explanation. I am using an 95 xfire wich is only 58 cm wide. So I think it could be difficult on that small board to swing the sail back and than forward.. But I'll try on Sunday. The weatherforecast predicts much wind for that day :')
