What's your opinion about the Proraso shaving brush? Is it worth it, durable, does it make a good lather? I'm planning to buy it but I'd appreciate your opinion. Thanks.
You need to stop with this bar soap shaving. I have had 15!, 15 different videos in my video feed about this same thing. First off, who cares. I have enough shaving soap to last me 5 years. There is no way I am going to shave with bar soap.
Out of all the razor finishers I’ve used.. The black hard or translucent Arkansas is by far my favorite.I use a synthetic progression to a coticule. Then after running the coticule I use the Ark. It leaves the razor with a smooth crazy sharp edge!
Surprisingly, I had to lap my ultra fine that I had ordered. It wasn’t flat at all even though they advertise them as lapped and tested. It didn’t look like anyone ever tested it either. Thankfully mine does a fine job just without slurry doing the running water. I like to use a dish soap water mix after that gets more out of the stone after it had started sticking under water.
@@TimShaves I set my stones that give me issues aside for when I’ve been honing longer just to see if it was me as a novice learning or just a bad stone. So far, I’ve been struggling with learning Coti stones.
Have you looked at the information on lapping and dressing the stones? The Dan’s are typically in shape to hone out of the box. Others have been said to not be flat and a little coarse for razor sharpening.
I've used Dan's out of the box and it's worked pretty well. I think it's dressed at around 400. Other ones, I've dressed it with my Atoma 600 and used it like that.
Exactly what I'm going with tonight, Tim - Proraso "Green" and the 10066 Omega with boar the knot. I like the cool menthol of the Proraso green, even lingers a bit after the shave. I'm shopping now for a decent "Budget" Simpson brush w/ a smaller synthetic knot. Easier for me to see where to apply the lather, but still has the back-bone to get a scrub. Take care, thanks for the presentation...
Great setup. It's a classic for a reason. The Simpson T1 or T2 might be in your wheelhouse for a smaller synth knot with backbone. I don't like the backbone as much on my T3 but you might enjoy it more.
From what you are showing here, MTF is not tricky to lather. You and a few other youtube channel presenters have shown lather-making with MTF yielding very apparently good lather. In fact much of what you are doing here is like how I make lather in a bowl. I see about one-eighth teaspoon of soap spread onto bowl bottom, and you are adding small increments of water and mixing into the bowl thoroughly.
Regarding the brush, is the paint from the Italian flag coming off or is the paint incorporated within the resin handle, not existing any chance of paint deterioration?

I tried working up with a slurry and it always would degrade the edge. Only slurry that worked for me was tiny bit of coticule slurry but even that, it turned out okay. I usually use the Ark with soap & water, sometimes mineral oil.

Suggest you install a separate tape disc in the bottom and then thrust your prepared knot into contact with the bottom tape surface. The strength of bond will likely double.
the best brush on the market today my Simpson Trafalgar's T-3 better then boar cheaper in the long run no break in, no need to soak it all day, ready to use, no weekly cleaning, no brush stand needed, easy on your face biggest brush at that price point .my I mic it its 29mm.' it's like buying a $275 badger hair brush, no cleaning the brush, no need for a brush stand, fast drying time, well not fall apart like a badger hair or boar can, cheap to buy, I have owned it for 5 years with no hair loss with no problems wheelchair Larry Merry Christmas
First one seems to be a douston stone, acording to the low density and provenience. Lot of black stones from Whetstone Company are confirmed to not be novaculite, are doustone stones, they recognize that multiple times. They apertise it to "produce surgical edges", but are way far to surgical black wich ii the hardest\finer black beside tranclucent black

I love your reviews, don't mind the hate comments, they are probably jealous of the amount of stuff you use and review, you're the goat, post more often please I love to learn about the produtcs, you should do a video talking about the best brushes who goes better with creams or hard soft soaps, thanks in advance
Appreciate it. I don't mind the hate but just my shaving routine became more simple recently. I'll look into the brush-soap pairing for the future videos.
@@TimShaves thanks, I'd love to see a good video talking about those, because most who are here ain't so well explained, it's always good to learn which brushes pairs well with creams or hard soft soaps medium soaps etc, beard produtcs and shaving is the best art 💪💪
@@TimShaves you're very much welcome my friend, I learn a lot with your reviews, you're always honest, if it's good it is, if not you also say it's not, that's amazing
