I'm just a guy wrenching on his dad's old car. The goal is to fully restore the "Great White Beast" to her former 1975 glory. All I know about working on cars I learned from my dad, through trial and error, and/or watching real mechanics in person or on RU-vid. I'm an amateur.
My dream car ... I want the 76 which when I was conceived. Glade to see you restore her. Cause I been looking fr one to be restored and this my first one thanks for think for sharing
Well, for sure the smog pump and related hp robbing stuff will go away. As far as the cam and lifters, it would seem to me to be a bit of a waste to do all this work to pull the motor and not give the Beast a bit of an upgrade. I'm not trying to make a race car, but better performance will certainly be the goal.
Speaking of scale... If the sun was the size of a standard front door, the earth would be the size of a nickel. Also, the word "earth" is at least 1000 years old. Unlike all the other planets named after Greek & Roman Gods, the word Earth is Germanic and means "the ground"

Favorite Earth fact: The earth's magnetic North is almost always not at the North Pole, but several degrees off. And how off it is oscillates over thousands of years and sometimes randomly flips every few hundred thousand years. Also: Earth is an oblate spheroid.
Hey! So nice chatting with you on the plane. Sorry i didn't get to say goodbye. I like this video--seeing the pups, the different camera angles, the dramatic sound after drinking... Ha ha! But I'll have to finish tomorrow.. So tired.
Listen. Pulp Fiction is, undoubtedly, the "best" John Travolta movie. But that was not your question. You asked what was my favorite John Travolta movie. And the winner of that particular contest is, without a doubt, Broken Arrow. "How many times do I have to say it? Please don't shoot the nuclear WEAPONS!" John Travolta is just pure, deliciously evil hilarious fun! I could watch that movie anytime.
Just ran across your channel. That's a wonderful car to be gifted. I have some catching up to do, and can't wait to see the progress!!! (Sidenote) You can't turn it into a Donk, because of it's year it's a Donk by nature. A Donk is a year span 71-76 caprice/ impala, not a customization!!!!....JUST SUBSCRIBED
Longest road trip: Virginia to Iowa in one run (19 hrs straight. 1 of 5 stars. Do not recommend) Coolest road trip: Glasgow to the Scottish Highlands. Breathtaking. Only 3-4 hrs with plenty of scenic stops. Craziest road trip: Aksaz, Turkey along the Turkish coast in 2002. So many crazy stories I only share in person. 😂
I have two "Crazy-long" road trip stories, maybe not cool in everyone's book, but me and my kiddos loved them. First, was from NC, down to AL to pick up my stepmom, then north to ND to visit my sister and niblings, spent the weekend on the lake in MI, then did all that again in reverse order, right before a flight back to Hawaii with my kiddos, who were at the time a toddler and a 10 yr old. When the kids were 4 & 13, We flew from HI to San Diego, CA (where we stayed and yes visited Coronado Beach. With the two kids and my two dogs, we drove from there to San Francisco, CA, AZ (Grand Canyon), NM (Roswell), TX (San Antonio & Houston), GA (Columbus, where we added my dad and stepmom to the crew in the van), NC (Middlesex, then to Atlantic Beach on the outer banks, back to Middlesex), back to GA to take my parents home, back to NC, then here to VA. I will always love road trips.
Nothing like a 75 caprice convertible I have a factory 454 big block one that I would not sell for anything I have a few nice classics but the caprice convertible is my favorite
Hi nice ride and it looks like a big block taking a guess at it I would say sticking valves or worn cam lobe’s. Change the oil and substitute 1 quart marvel mystery oil and 1 quart of transmission fluid with 3 quarts of oil and let the car sit and run an idle for 30 to 45 minutes and get up to normal operating temperature and then see how it runs and if it runs better then drain everything and change the oil before you drive it. Also Troud put in a few gallons of non-ethanol premium minute just to help it along
When I read your recommendation my first thought was, "that sounds like a lot of work." Then I remembered that I've been working on this for four episodes now and I laughed at myself. I am in the process of removing the valve covers to have a look at the lifters and replace the badly dried and cracked cover gaskets. So your tip may yet prove useful. Stay tuned!
It has been brought to my attention that what I actually mean to work on next is not the header gaskets, but the valve cover gaskets. I’m an amateur. 🤷🏼♂️
If it has been sitting for a long time without being started that means some of the valves were left open. Intake valves can get cortisone or other debris on the vale seat or the valve face.
