Gary Moore is without doubt one of the greatest guitarists of all time but on this occasion Robbo's LIVE AND DANGEROUS version is without doubt the best performance of this awesome song. And not forgetting real classic lyrics. This song reminds me of my first ever love. 😍
I'm not a Gary Moore fan but for me, his solos are better on this song, particularly the outro solo. Pure brilliance. I also prefer Scott's solo on the Live & Dangerous version to Brian's. It's good to be different.
Brian Robertson good player paricularly for his age he was also an unpleasant drunk but personality aside comparisons pointless Robertsons career all 8 years ,listen to Gary Moore playing empty roms at Milton Keynes or imagine Robertson playing blues for Narada , whole thing ludicrous
Nobody mentions the version GM re recorded with Phil Lynott ,the comparisons ridiculous i saw Robertson on the Bad Reputation tour and could never work out why he was never as melodic as ob this song ,because he copied it !!!
@@nostalga44jo Very lucky I would of loved to have seen Vito, I didn't start playing till Christmas 1988. I'm not much into tapping but the way Vito did it was always so melodic he was unique, he's missed
@@craigpriceguitarist cool. Vitto is a powerhouse! Not sure if you watched the entire White lion concert live at The Ritz. He's explosive. Who only knows how much greater he would've been had the band not lost him. Btw, the Whitelion concert was outdoors so no inside distortion, just crystal clear sound. Keep jamming!! Killer covers!!
Nice cover, man! This guitar solo is quite an interesting example of how different guitarists develop a single idea. Gary Moore recorded the original, then Brian Robertson took Gary's foundation and played his version. Finally, John Sykes came up with his own variant, but based on Robertson's version. Notably, in Sykes' "final" version, there are phrases from both Gary's and Brian's solos. Although my favorite guitarist is Gary Moore, when I heard Sykes' version, the other versions ceased to exist for me. John achieved perfection. I would place Brian's solo in second place.
Oh Craig you absolute beauty. That sent shudders down my spine and bought tears of joy to my eyes. My favourite band, and one of my favourite guitarists. You did him proud. JP’s alternating solos, then both coming together for dual harmonies, the work of genius. Thank you 🙏 so much 👻
@@craigpriceguitarist bless you. I’m an old softie, but I cried when he came on stage are the end of the concert. He’s so frail, Parkinson’s has really taken hold, but the crowd went nuts, and he smiled bless him.
I know it's essentially the same song, but I wasn't keen on the original solo, but Robbo's version of it has got to be my favourite solo of all time, in my favourite song of all time. I think that (at long last.....) Robbo now appears to be getting the recognition he deserves for his gigantic contribution to Lizzy's guitar sound, during what was - let's face it - Lizzy's best era. I remember going to Stafford Bingley Hall to see them after he left, hoping that some-way he might have re-joined them. Sadly not.
Was there and it was a great gig at the end of Robin’s tour 1st time l’ve seen him live and it didn’t disappoint.Holmfirth Picturedrome is an old cinema house and acoustics and sound were really good. Long may you carry on Robin.
Thank you, @Craig, for posting this clip of The Master at work. I saw him at the beginning of that week at the show in Islington, London and I have to admit he did seem more sprightly at the earlier show. But it was good to hear they seemed to have sorted the poor vocal qualityby the time of your clip here, such a shame as I think Richard is a v g vocalist.
The sound was great at Holmfirth, Robin was smiling constantly in-between songs and he signed my strat afterwards didn't meet him sadly but after his recent statement regarding cancelling the US tour I'm not surprised
Love to You Man. And You know how dope those strings creates those Hazy fog. Heard You first time in 1978 and never stopped. Every day is a treasure, to still hear you play <3 💕💕💕💖💝 and perhaps something to Bonamossa as well..? (for Nerdville 78)
I did not know who played that on the live version, but to me, it exudes emotion. It tells the story of love and loss and was exactly what I was feeling. It is a shame the comparison did not go to the next part of this because the uplift in emotion from Robertson is just brilliant. Love, loss, then you move on. Not many musicians can portray that.
Funny enough I thought Robbo's version was the original ( probably 'cos I heard his first ) but if I had to choose; I would go with the Brian Robertson version as the better version ... you can really hear the 'heartbreak ' in it... Also I think both Robertson and Scott Gorman ( the prettiest man I had ever seen growing up) were two of the most underrated guitarists in rock music history.... !!! Never understood why neither of them ever get a mention in the top 100 Greatest Guitarist listings .... But this is easily one of the greatest love songs ever written - up there with 'I want your Love' by Chic ! and as part of the ' Bass players union' Phil has written his Best Bass line - right there ....! Masterpiece!
Robbo and Scott were such a great team and when u look at it they only played together for about 5 years they achieved a lot in a short time. Lizzy as a whole are completely underrated and the reason they barely get mentioned is because the majority of poll results are based on popularity. Those of us that know, know 😉
@@craigpriceguitarist Usually I am wary of remixes Craig, but there's a much better record bursting to get out (assuming the source tracks are all good) it's a great idea.
@@ILikeSarnies Nightlife in particular has always been scorned by the Lizzy band members for its production so like u say hopefully the source is still good and it can be improved (I'm sure it can)
That tone, that playing from Robbo just pierces heart,it's just so lyrical.Robbo is the harder version of Dave Gilmour stinging guitar. So simple but yet so emotional.
OMG, I'm the biggest Gary fan. Ever , had my first kiss to him, back in 78...but always maintained that the best silwy solo was Robbos on land d just effing soars... Can Here the rafters applauding..... Love it.
