Adding the time, it takes to finish each individual level completely isn't the fulfillment requirement, since most of the levels I return to later are just for coin grabs. The levels that I do completely are a separate iteration of getting the autosave to make a level select possible.

Normally the backwards speed cap is 95 MPH, however since the speed value is too high to change back to its intended rate, I can keep more than what's possible. The speed here is 220 going into 1st gear and lowers each time you keep it at a lower gear. Since 1st gear is the lowest of the 5 gears it lowers quickly but the speed cap breaks because it's faster than it can calculate, hence why the speed goes past the cap of 262 MPH. I can only go past the speed cap if a car duo pushes me back up past the intended rate. This saves 5 seconds on some tracks, here on LV it saved 0.19s also not impossible RTA, although unlikely.

​@@Technickle Has it ever been done in real time by a human? Also, I was confused when you let off the gas toward the end of the last race as I thought you were loosing time. However, I remembered that TAS timing stops after the last input is needed to complete the game. I never would have thought of letting off the gas and have other cars bump you to the finish line. Very creative!

@@nicholas_7r Never been done in real time by a human, it would take a lot of time and effort to even apply it correctly and do it correctly without losing time. The judges and I for the TAS settled on last input being able to reach the finish without needing the movie to be longer. Before this decision was implemented, I used to use the You Qualified screen A press to finish the movie.

TAS = Tool-Assisted Speedrun. Frame by frame inputs to show a theoretical perfect run.

Finding the optimal route is a giant puzzle, however, since the game is a giant puzzle with what is given I have manually find the correct set of inputs to choose on each frame to get the best outcome. It’s possible to use a bot that will run through each given sample, but, for this instance I had to do it myself, which overall will take longer.

Project 64 1.6 or the latest available version. The best way to get rid of any loading zone delay you can change the Counter Factor to 1. Normally it's set to 2. Any controller with mappable input should work as well.

​@@Technickle thanks for replying. i am currently using the latest pj64 3.0.1 and i seem to have an issue where whenever i switch to full screen the game looks all wide and stretched even though in my graphics settings it says full screen resolution 4:3 640 x 480 and i can't make it look normal. i have everything set to default, which is why i was curious about your settings and was hoping you could help me with that

@@josephinehartley5311 I believe that the issue here is not just the graphic settings for the stretching problem, and it seems that it is a emulation setting. You can enable advanced settings, by doing the following: 1. Graphic Settings -> Other 2. Make sure "Show texture enhancement options is checked (unless it is already there without that) 3. Click Apply & Okay 4. Reboot the emulator and open the game 5. Emulation Settings should appear in Graphic Settings 6. Aspect Ratio 4:3 (default) (also make sure Full Screen Resolution is your monitor/TV output EX: 1920x1080 7. Click Apply & Okay after swapping the emulation settings 8. Close the emulator and reopen -> run a ROM These are the steps that can work, if they don't work, let me know. :)
