Its a misconception that if an item has been priced incorrectly the retiler has to sell at the price this is not true . Some retailers will honour the price but it is not a legal requirement . Strange way to carry on in that shop though i must say .
@TonksBoutique
@TonksBoutique 26 дней назад
I understand that but I don't get why they were being selective with some items and not with others when they had the same week numbers and prices on the labels. And telling us were lucky to be getting the items at 99p and they could of removed more. We don't buy from the shop anymore, we've been in twice recently and prices have changed a lot. Maybe because of this they now drop prices gradually rather than straight to 99p after 3 weeks. Thanks for watching and commenting.

Yes, you can claim electricity, soap powder, stain remover as a business expense. Same with dry cleaning. We use our own washing line and the neighbours. And also dry clothes inside. Soon as it's decent we need to try get as much done as possible with washing clothes. Where are you from?

Hi, I wanted to ask a while back that you bought lots of sacks from BOOM Wholesale. I wanted to ask if you had sold it all and was it worth it, and did you get your money back/make a profit? I ask because I was contemplating buying in bulk also from boom. Happy sales.
@TonksBoutique
@TonksBoutique Месяц назад
@@Lee-vx5df I wouldn't recommend buying from wholesale online as its a lottery of what will turn up. The cost of goods is too high, it can end up costing you £6-7 an item or more and in the sack there will be shorts and t-shirts that hold not much resell value. These sorts of items are break even or even running at a loss which eats into your overall profit. And there is always the expect 10% damages with wholesale, we find with wholesale it can be anywhere from 10-40% damages. If your going to spend up and buy in bulk I'd highly recommend hand picking at a wholesaler or buying joblots from ebay were your protected with free returns if an item isn't as described. The clothing market is saturated and with ebays no fees for private sellers its getting harder to sell clothes on ebay. We have sold most of the boom items but some still remain. But it's not something I would do again as it was very hit/miss and very time consuming with all the issues.

So basically, like me you've given up being an only clothing seller! No shame there. I've honestly now stopped sourcing clothing. I'm just working through the clothing stock I have - but mostly now just left with autumn and winter stock to list. I saw the writing on the wall with both no fees for private sellers and Vinted too and I'm getting out of the game and moving into collectable & vintage homeware niche. I barely use charity shops anymore - there is literally one I source from now. I do find that charity shops are not always as high for bric a brac as they are for clothing. I'm now sourcing from auction every 4 weeks. The volume I can get and the value of items is amazing - and my local is not a cheap auction house but the stuff I get my hands on is amazing. The other thing iI've found from sourcing hard goods is the sell through rate is rapid compared to clothing.
@TonksBoutique
@TonksBoutique 2 месяца назад
We've not given up with clothes. We've just been accepted onto the pre-loved partner program which is meant to increase sales. Ebay said 2-3 weeks before we're added and it's been 4 and we've not been added yet. That's meant to give a boost in visibility. We'll see how that goes but because of the private sellers and no fees we thought it best we pick up other items to resell. We've got 2600 items of clothes listed and we have a lot of unlisted clothes. Once we max out the sheds we will get a container and then look at mixing clothes with other items such as toys, collectables and other items.

@@TonksBoutique sorry, I didn’t mean you’ve given up entirely - I worded that badly 😅but yeah, I think a mix right now for me is safe. It’s a bit of a test really. I’m only sourcing hard goods right now and I’m curious to see whether this increases sales or not. They take up more real estate as it were but they turn over faster. My sales are a mix right now. No one thing is bring me more profit than the other.it’s hard to judge. However, selling hard goods only is limiting in terms of platforms to sell on. It’s a real pickle!

In the last 90 days we have sold 27 Next items (4 which were bundles). Next does sell, find it can sit similar to the likes of GAP and other high street brands. A lot of resellers wont pick up cheap brands, as they think everything needs to be branded but it you can get items cheap enough they all sell. Not everyone has £50, £100 to spend on clothes at one time. A lot of our sales are people spending £10-15. It all add up when the weekly payment comes in. Thanks for watching Jo ❤

Excellent video and comments help buyers guys like us, I am from South America, I dared with Fleek and a purchase of Barbour jackets (1000 USD) It is unfortunate that the jackets were not the same ones in the video, the A quality was really B with many repairs on the jackets, fleek helped with a refund of 100 pounds to buy from the same seller, but that does not give you confidence, and at the same time I lost the coupon because the message was deleted, I tried a second time with north face jackets, 20 Only 2 were men's and small sizes, it's a shame that the videos are not of good quality to really see in detail, the platform should improve, today I think they are with a better quality standard, since I bought 1400 usd in barbour grade A but at the same time Reviewing the Fleek equipment indicated that 80% were grade C, so I asked for a refund, apparently I have not had a good experience with the platform, I am still looking for the correct dealer. thank you

So i’m curious as ebay sellers who have gone from everything to clothing. Have you noticed your earnings change up or down? I have this eternal struggle! As now I don’t feel I can go back to selling just clothing!
@TonksBoutique

Our sales with clothes are still hit and miss Jo, there up and down compared to being an everything reseller but we're getting there slowly. We're hoping we can do 1 sales video a week and share our journey more. We haven't listed this week at all because of hospital and my arm injury so sales are terrible this week. So when we started being just a clothing seller our sales were SHOCKING but the more and more items we list the better it's becoming. The main thing for us is even if we don't sell a lot, the 'Cost Of Goods' price really helps our profit as most of our items are around £1 per item. So, hopefully as the year goes on and we get the container sorted then we can gradually make more money each month. I am going to add the odd bric-a-brac item or toy, but going to be very selective and try get things I know will sell and not need much work done to them (ie. cleaning, testing etc). Today we used our loyalty card and got a pair of £4 brass candlesticks for free. And we got 113 computer games for 50p each and a mamas and papas seat we've sold many times in the past for £3. What kind of bric-a-brac are you picking up?

@@TonksBoutique I really enjoyed seeing what you sold by the way. There aren't many clothing UK you tubers, so it's interesting to see. Also we have a similar strategy, free post etc. That's interesting about the bric a brac, and I think I've come to the conclusion that maybe I need to do maybe a 70/30 split in favour of clothing. I'm not picking up anything earth shattering - mostly collectables, some vintage glassware, home decor items and they are flying out. But it's that thing isn't it. I can make a tenner really quickly, but the storage space for hard goods compared to that needed by an item of clothing for the same profit - with no complicated packing needed is a battle! I think I'm going to dedicated a small shelf in my container to hard goods. Don't really get returns with hard goods though! A storage container will honestly be so amazing for your business! It's hard to think about the cost - but it's freeing!

@@ThisisJo Yeah packaging can be a pain in the arse with non clothing. But we're trying to pick smaller items with bric-a-brac, then I buy a Mamas and Papas chair today 🤣 I think with our 2 sheds and the new container it will allow us to grow as we can get our listing numbers up.The time it will take to get shelving, get a sku system in place, buy-wash-photograph-list the clothes I think it will probably next year before we see a big difference in sales. How many items do you have listed with your container? And what do you do for lighting in the container?

That had both of us giggling "James torn his tendon in his bicep with all that hitting the buy button." 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 If that was the case, I'd have no arms left 🤣🤣 I'm doing ok, hospital tomorrow again and then have to wait for the results. We try and buy all our items now for around £1 but we will spend up if the right item comes along. Thanks for watching Jeannie. Have a nice evening ❤

@@retrorewiindtv A lot of our 99p items are from a Scottish charity shops called Chest, Heart and Stroke. Not sure if your in Scotland but they have stores in Wishaw, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Lanark, Biggar, Perth, Elgin, Leven, Auchterarder, Kirkcaldy ,Bridge of Allan and lots more places in and around Scotland. But, not all are discount stores, some are Boutique. We also buy cheap clothing at church sales, wholesale, carboots, social media (Facebook/Instagram) etc... Thanks for watching❤

@@TonksBoutique Thank you I’m in Scotland outside Glasgow. Good to know there’s still some cheaper shops as in general they are more expensive than ever. Where do you get wholesale clothes from? I forgot about Facebook :) thanks for the inspiration x

@@retrorewiindtv @retrorewiindtv I'm not sure what end of Glasgow you live but the Chest Heart Stroke shop in Partick and Drumchapel are discount I believe (best call the store to find out if Boutique or Discount before traveling in case I'm wrong). And I forgot ebay is good to buy stock as they offer free returns if an item isn't described. And vinted is also good but you have to pay return shipping on items but you can find good items on there. Sorry I cant give away my current wholesale sources. But I've tried various wholesalers and I find most to be either too expensive or full of issues, ie. stains, holes, wrong grades etc. If you do wholesale, your best hand picking if possbile.
