Much has been said about her exquisite musicality; she and the music are seemingly ONE. To me, she is the best Aurora and Giselle. A tiny little thing with such strength!!
@@Jay-dz1qy many. I like Natalia Osipova, Svetlana Zakharova, Diana Vishneva, Alina Somova (for some performances), lauren cuthbertson, Sylvie Guillem, Cynthia Gregory, Uliana Lopatkina (some performances), Evgenia Obraztsova and I’m sure there are others that I cannot think right on top of my head right now. But these ballerina tend to have much better techniques than Cojocaru as well as being very artistically expressive in their own ways.
@@luceafarul579 I love many of these dancers also! Alina Cojocaru has been my favorite since I began so I'm biased toward her dancing. Thank you for taking the time to share some of your favorites :)
@@brianr.3085 the fundamental ones. She’s not as light on her foot, doesn’t finish her rotation fully here and there, lines are not as perfect, etc etc.
I had the great privilege of seeing Cojocaru dance Aurora with the American Ballet Theater ten years ago. She was a guest artist, and did only two performances, both of which sold out. There wasn’t an empty seat in the Metropolitan Opera House. To say she was extraordinary would be a massive understatement.
I’ve been watching many ballerinas performing this ppd and there is no one like Alina. She exceeds in grace, elegance, control and most of all that lift. Beautiful. Thanks for the vid.
Watched Zakharova first, and thought "What amazing dancing!" Watched this, and thought "What a delightful young girl!" She's the beauty I fall in love with.
Lovely! LOVELY! Whatever I feel about Sleeping Beauty, and regardless of all the restrictions RB puts on this roles performance, Alina managed to be so lovely! I gladly watch her over, and over again. No matter how long ago it was,... I come back all the time to see her again!
Well-danced, but I don't feel anything behind it except, "Hey y'all out there in the audience! Look what I can do!" www.huffingtonpost.com/risa-gary-kaplowitz/the-taming-of-the-tutu-a-_b_1739994.html
WAAAAHH that was so depressing and realistic. I think Kobborg did a fantastic job, they are amazing together!! Also, they are now officially engaged!! *throws confetti*
I really like his dancing but somehow he does not represent the "Bournonville" style as well other great Danish dancers such as Nikolaj Hubbe, Erik Bruhn, or Alexander Kolpin. Kobborg can't seem to end his double tours in correct 5th position!! I'd love to see him in a dramatic ballet in which he shows his acting skills which I've been told are incredible!
For the people nitpicking on his double tour prep: it looks (and sounds) to me like the conductor wasn't helping him at all, in any of these variations. All the tempi are much too rushed and you can see in his first variation in the white act that he cuts some of the steps a bit short in order to keep up. Kudos to him for not only doing so, but keeping a pleasant expression on his face...instead of tensing up or giving the conductor death glares.
