dumbest thing ive ever seen. Stick with a a regular vibratory compactor. And yes, theyre just fine for anything but wet clay. You can make 16 passes with a vibratory with less work than getting one with the jack. That thing is a gimmick.

I’ve used a 1x2 furring stripe for years as my grade rod. Easy to mark up and don’t have to worry about the detector landing on the nub of a traditional grade rod.

I actually think the height on the standing platform has to be a little high. If youre up and down elevations, the skid could shut down on you if that platform hits the ground and puses up on it. The machine will think you stepped off the platform and disable the controls. Its actually dangerous, IMO.
