You make it look so simple. I really like it. Where do you recommend to get the clay and what happens after I shape it? Do I need a clay oven or is there another way to make it harder?
Marissa Anderson, it’s a year later, but you know, if your class decides to do oil lamps each, then your instructor should be able to arrange for you to have the appropriate clay body for that project; I see no reason why you couldn’t use A different class for the same project type. You’re not looking to Make a historically accurate replica; you just want to use the technique. In that case, as long as you can build the project, he probably won’t matter that you didn’t have to use authentic techniques from back in the day to harvest and render the clay suitable for use using kilns of the day. That being said, I’m betting you already made one. How did it turn out?
