Rivers make CUTS through the Earth, as they do this, the water receded, hences, it created the diffent levels of earth. BENCHES. Hilcrest, Sunrise Drive, and above Randolf Roberts Subdivision, SECOND AND THIRD BENCHES. Canal created irrigation forthe benches, and many long time farms and Orchards were created. Born in Idaho, lived in South Boise, Division Ave. Way before River Run, Loggers Creek was our neighborhood playground. As an adult, returning to Boise from Military. Lived on Bench. Behind Depote, and off of Roosevelt, then right behind or West, of Crescent Rim drive. Now live in Eastern oregon. Great video. Miss Boise. But not the growth.😉
First, there’s no “Z” in BoiSe. Now prices are equal to where everyone is coming from, traffic is now out of control, trying to camp is now really hard without reservations, last everyone is not new and please have respect for what our old way of life used to be.
We checked those out when we were there in June/July. Some really amazing condos going in down town and around the city. But yeah...with all the special assessments and stuff being pulled with condos, I keep telling my wife to slap me if I ever talk about owning one. For the money there are some amazing homes to be had for surely.
@@livinginidaho Loved We stayed (and love) the North End and were a street over from Lost Grove Brewery - how convenient. Walking distance to everything. So that is an area we may focus. We also stayed at the Pink House down towards the city on Franklin, and that was terrific area as well. Drove out to where the condos are and hiked around there, but really went for the Sushi Shack (pretty good). Tooled up to McCall, out Nampa way, and various places. Just really love North End. Cheers.
Thanks, Craig, for sharing this video. It has quite sufficient information that can help in deciding with moving in Boise short or long term. I’m in northern Florida for over 2 decades now and I’m actually looking into moving out and try the colder weather. My 23+ years here hasn’t changed my dislike of the heat, but somehow midway through I started to like the winter. I visited Norway in October of 2018. It wasn’t snowing but it was pretty cold and I loved it. I went back the following year and it was snowing. At that point, I decided it’s time to move out of Florida, but the pandemic happened and the ridiculous inflation also happened. Only now I have begun to revisit my thoughts of moving out. If time allows, I will take your advise and pay Boise a couple of days visit. I haven’t been there physically but thank God for Google Map, I zoomed in to some areas not too far from the airport and actually found some nice apartments with coffee shops, restaurants, barbershops, mailing services (a few of my a-must amenities) within reach. Honestly, Boise wasn’t even on my list. My top choices are in Colorado, Maine and Oregon. I came across Boise when I googled apartments with cafés located downstairs or in the same building. I have yet to mention but I’m paraplegic, hence the idea of having my favored amenities within short walking distance. The one I saw seem to have surroundings that are wheelchair friendly. Let me know if you have other suggestions and point me to the direction of any videos you may already have about cost of living and such. Much appreciated. Take care.
Hi, Boise State University to me is a PRO. A major university for academics and sporting events. Although the town of Boise is not considered a college town, BSU is a PRO.
As someone who's lived in Idaho my entire life, I really love this state for the most part. The wilderness and outdoors, and even the culture is surprisingly cool for what it is. Food and entertainment are growing. Sadly as someone who cares about cost of living, reproductive rights, education, and equality- things are not getting much better on that front, unfortunately.
I have a question. Sometimes I switch the mode on google maps to air quality. Boise is almost always dark red which means very poor air quality. How come?
Best everyone avoid this state like the plague… advisable that one seek refuge in a Sanctuary State, like CA, OR, WA or IL, as you will be much happier there!!
Idaho is a right to work State. The wages have never kept with nation wide wages! It is expensive to live here. If you require a job, good luck finding a job with good wages. Rent is terribly expensive and houses are 79% overpriced since 2005. Don't recommend Idaho unless you are loaded!
@9:01 Aberdeen, WA checking in here. The homeless/drug problem here in Kurt Cobain’s home town has left this area a city-blok of desolate and despair. People use the sidewalk as a restroom and restrooms as drug-dens, and due to the governortator’s rules the police’s hands are tied in terms of making arrests… 🤦 I do miss Idaho, Garden City was beautiful.
Although you probably can't bike there easily- Im surprised you didnt include the military museum at the Boise Air National Guard base on the other side of the airport. I visited there last year and I thought it was very interesting and spent more time there than I thought I would.
And this is why I am leaving Idaho after 25 years. The CA influx is bringing what they tried to leave making Idaho a sprawl of cheap construction, traffic, and rudeness.
Hate to break the news to you, bro, but Moscow, ID and Boise, ID are at least 300 miles apart, depending on which route you take. Moscow is definitely NOT in the “Boise area.”
I wouldn't live in Boise. Boisie is more of a city to visit for the day. I loved going to Meridian for the speed race. Living in Glenns Ferry is my favorite town. Nampa is also a nice town.
I am ready for something new. I am so tired of california. Unfortunately, it has change and not for good. We have already considered florida, Georgia but I don’t like the humidity and weather my husband is from Florida and not wanting to go back. We love the outdoors and we are considering Idaho. I am looking for a conservative state and that is very important for us as a family.
This video confirmed it: I'm moving to Idaho. Every "con" on this list is a pro to ME. After watching my birth city (Los Angeles) decline the way it has, I can think of nothing better than clear skies, patriotism, "loners", the outdoors, and people who reference Tom Sowell.
Finally got to visit Boise after 1+ year of dreaming about it, and the smoke was just unbearable for me and my wife. We ended up driving to Portland so we could actually breathe and see things. Disappointing. Scouting trip FAIL! lol
Idaho, seems like the end of the line with nowhere else to go. My brother moved there several years ago to be with wife's family but if he out lives her then he is gone. I live in Northern California, and it has everything that Idaho has I am sure so I really get tired of hearing about what a paradise Idaho, is. Cal has always been a paradise to me and everywhere I've ever been I was glad to get back here.
Coming from Portland, you mean you didn't like Ted Wheeler and his leftist policies? Is that why you left? You didn't like the nightly rioting, needles, drug use, crime and everything else leftist policies create? I hope you've learned your lesson and vote correctly in Idaho....
Since you briefly touched on live music, I feel like Boise is a great place if you're into live music, especially from local artists. There's a handful of pretty great small venues that have live music pretty much every week, but there are other bigger venues too that have pretty big name artists and bands that come through pretty often. Also, Treefort Music Fest, though it's more of an annual thing, is an absolutely amazing and unique event that really shows off the downtown and the tight knit community.
I love watching these videos. My husband and I's goal is to move to Idaho within a couple of years. We're from Florida but currently in Iowa. Seeing different parts of Idaho is helpful!
Ppl moving to Idaho. You will love it. You can Bow Hunt, Fish and shoot rifles on Sunday. Lastly they are Rodeos. (cowboy country)🤠. My only problem it's gets extremely cold.🥶
think it also depends on what your doing. Like in my case i moved to california about 6 years ago but my parents are both making 6 figures so as a family we haven't had an issue in terms of housing. For context my dad is a doctor and he's making around 230k a year and my mum is a lawyer and she make around 150k a year so money isnt really and issue however i know for lower income families it might be tough. I feel like california has more amenities and if you have the money and are wealthy enough to live in a good neighbourhood then you should feel fine.
