Hi, how many community service hours should someone interested in any org have? Like 50-70? Or more like 150-200? I know they’re all different and therefore require different things but I thought I’d ask. Thank you for your advice!!!
I know this vid is OLD! Nonetheless, I’m pursuing going “back” to college and possibly joining a Black Greek Org. I haven’t done thorough research yet; though I will! When you talked about time commitment I think that was a really good one because of course we don't want to make ourselves seem unavailable and not useful to the organization so I think wording it in that way would be good!
Hi! I’m a member in a newly charted chapter (chartered in 2019; initiated Spr24 💗💚) and I sought out this chapter because I knew I would have the greatest impact. I’m excited to shape the future of my chapter, and create traditions. A downside is that it’s small and prophytes aren’t as involved as I would like, but we have a strong graduate advisory council that fills in the gaps. However at the end of the day, it doesn’t truly matter where you’re initiated in if you truly want to be a productive member of the organization. Take your opportunity where you can.
The people who denounce expose the fact that they have never taken a deep dive into Black history, the history of Christianity and Catholicism. They are clearly not studious. If they understood the origins of these religions, they wouldn’t denounce. They also should take a deeper dive into the Bible, beyond what their pastor says and READ what the history says. I think it also exposes the fact that they joined with weak intentions-just for the appeal. That’s why they are so mad. So, please ladies. Study the history of all the religions. Once you are informed, you won’t have to ever denounce if you decide to join. Oh! And I love this hair on you Kels ❤
My advice would be do your research of the organization prior to starting the process then that way you will have knowledge of what you are getting into!! I am proud to be a member of the divine nine and nobody cannot tell me no differ!! 🤘🏿🤘🏿🤘🏿💙🤍💙🤍💙🤍 #1914
Thank you for doing this video👏🏼👏🏼 I watched a few of those videos and I stopped because it was making me frustrated and I had the same question, then why did you join if...? It seems like the thing to do this year join a sorority/Fraternity, denounce, and go on social media to talk about it, what? Why?
When I watch many of the videos. The one large theme is that the denouncing has more to do with the people in said chapter than the org as a whole. Many of these videos take issue with how they were treated and the process by THAT CHAPTER. The problem is NOT the org but the people doing/saying things that are against the rules in the first place. Then said denouncer CHERRY PICKS some verses from the Bible to try and support why the org is bad. The problem is when reading the Bible one CANNOT cherry pick verses, one has to read the entire book/chapter, need to have a small understanding of the customs during that time in the Bible, need to have a small knowledge of the definitions of Greek words to REALLY know what that cherry picked verse was really stating. One of the best resources the Life application study Bible. I am Greek and I went into it with eyes wide open trying to look to see where anything said or done could be interpreted as demonic or bad, I saw nothing that a person having a regular relationship as a believer would take issue with. Wisdom comes with age, much of the time. P.S. now there are videos denouncing their college (Spelman).
Girly, keep it simple. Don't let these people sprinkle pee in your clean water. Join if YOU want, not because of someone else's convictions. You don't know who they've been listening to. They will swear God convicted them but it was a youtuber and the 20 other videos they watched that did. Enjoy it and have the fun that comes with it. Understand the perspective that the original founders came from. Don't let 'wording' make you feel that you are putting anything above The Almighty God or Idolizing anything. Let it be a simple joy. God is not condemning you for enjoying your sorority, your Christmas tree, your Easter egg hunt, your husband, your 'Christian bbl' (chile), your anything. Many people are being condemned because they are applying Bible scriptures to things that the people who lived during that time were not even talking about. In essence they are taking things out of context. It can be very convincing and manipulative all the same. At the end of the day it is an organization of women. As someone who is part of the Divine Nine I found it odd. It was like the members didn't know or understand why they joined in the first place, but I offered Grace because at the end of the day I understood that though as a Christian I saw it as religiousness many saw it as not wanting to dishonor God and in the end that too is still the right heart posture even though a person may be misinformed. If you rely on social media to think for you, you will be falling prey to propaganda (kinda like hearing everyone saying why you should go natural when having a relaxer works better for your lifestyle and you did the research on the chemicles and realized it not even conclusive and your relaxer doesn't even have formaldehyde). You hear it over and over again and you get convinced. Put it in it's rightful place. It is a group of girls/women. Enjoy the fun and connections it brings. Try and uphold the tenets of the organization which usually help guide your character as a young woman. Keep the wording in context (usually meant to be symbolic and only pertaining to the organizations as a symbol of excellence in some way, which you yourself should reflect.) I say all this as someone who has gone back over my early intake information and still came to the same conclusion. Understanding the mindset of these young oftern/mostly Christian young ladies was not that of offending God and believing that a symbolic greek god or speaking florally and poetically about the sorority was in anyway to take the place of God or your spiritual relationship with Him, but of bringing their peers together for a greater good. You can give all of your love and happiness to your family, your spouse, your whatever, that is due to it/them, but you can never displace God. It is a different love. The love of your Creator-not the love of your club and your line jacket colors. Sorority can not give you life. A boost in confidence....perhaps. A few new friends...maybe. Some good memories... hopefully. Enjoy your life. Enjoy GOD and all the things that make this short life enjoyable. Thank God and keep it pushing. Religiousness is a thief that people often don't talk about. Ask the Holy Spirit to keep things simple for you and know that you are covered by The Blood. P.S. I'm not telling you to go out here and be an IG Model with that 'Christian bbl' statement. I am saying people are too caught up on minutea that is neither here nor there and getting crucified for it. The girl got it because she wanted it and owed no one a reason. If she said Christian braces and Christian relaxer they would have ate her alive. (All this social media groupthink has me irritated right now. No one can think for themselves anymore.) @KelsTells I think I understand what her intent is.... it's frustrating because some people truly want to be in their dream org. So, to see people throwing it away and telling a story about how they were half interested in the first place..... it's frustrating. Because how was it so easy for these people to join in the first place smh. It makes you wonder if somethings wrong with you even when you're seemingly doing everything right.
Im glad you put this video out. I've been watching lots of ppl state they were denouncing and my response is always why did you join in the first place. Im apart of a non collegiate sorority and found out some denounced and it shocked me because nothing in our pledge says anything about idolizing anyone or any object. I feel like this is a fad and will decrease overtime but who knows
So explain those who pledged and have been in these secret societies for over 5 decades? It is not a fad and many people who have been exposed to these things will ATTEST to that point.
I agree, I'm a part of a D9 organization and a Christian. A relative of mine asked me to watch videos denouncing D9. I refused to watch because it's opinions of others. I explained my D9 organization hadn't done anything against my beliefs in God.

@@KelsTells Yes that’s what I’m interested in. There’s only 2 undergrad chapters in my state. I don’t go to either of those schools. I’ve decided to pursue grad. Already made the relationships lol. Just hoping time is on my side. I have 1.5 more years left

Lol too funny you say that for years I’ve been like my dream car is a wrangler then I test drove some wranglers and hated how they drove them tested a bronco and was instantly in love!!!
