Hey there, welcome! My mission is to document autonomous vehicle progress-from the first driverless miles, to the robotaxis of today, and into the distant future!
That was fascinating, I’ve never seen the wheel move so much! When I was in LA taking Waymo around, I started putting down all 4 windows. I had to do this at the beginning of the ride before I put my seatbelt on, because the reach to the “drivers” side door is quite a reach from the back seat. Waymo didn’t seem to mind.
@@corbeau-_- It's mostly a bummer for everyone. Instead of having less cars on the road, now we have excess traffic. Having one car on the road carrying a single passenger is inefficient. A car on the road carrying no passengers at all should honestly carry a fine. That's just infinitely inefficient.
Thanks for uploading! Could you mark every time it calls for remote assistance, please? Trying to get a feel for how many miles per intervention Waymos need.
@@C.BernierInvest The problem is, we have no idea what the miles per intervention is, they hide it. We only see that screen of the car gets stuck for long enough.
Really the one thing that this video really shows is not so much a failure of the automation but a failure of the management culture.. after the car get's stuck the assistance employees should be empowered to just direct park the waymo safely tell it to stop all autonomous operation and wait for roadside assistance. The random "ok I'm good" behavior and then letting it just go is what really made it all the more dangerous and worse.
@@TheRealFreznoBob Shut up I'm tired of answering this question. It was required by the company, these are shared taxis. If you don't wear a mask you get kicked out
@@JJRicks You shut up, rule following tard. I don't give a $hit what you are sick of and why didn't you use that foul language with the clowns who forced you to wear a mask. You are wearing a mask, like an idiot. You are riding in a driverless car, like an idiot, and you are risking your life for youtube views, like an idiot. You shouldn't be tired of answering questions, you should be tired of being YOU.
car stops you in the middle of a lane and leaves you vulnerable to traffic, this should be a illegal because it is endangering your life but instead it's just a free ride, didn't you always want to risk your life for free stuff, people like you that use Waymo should have their heads examined
Interesting: there seem to be some major flaws in the software. Especially the way it did not give priority to the cars overtaking it over the wrong lane, once it started moving again. As a driver, you always have to give priority to all other traffic when you are parked and want to start driving. It is apparently not well programmed to predict how the flow of traffic will go, even when it can infer it from the cars that have already passed it.
Hi, how can i track containers that arrives to ports and are moved by train into USA? i´ve tried in the website of NS and BNSF but i can´t track my containers.
This is atrocious. Waymo should be delicensed, sued & charged with obstructing traffic >5 times, most times without 4 way flashers being used. They endangered the lives of the passenger and those in transit around it. Waymo was fortunate that all the other drivers were alert enough to avoid a collision. IMO, the self-driving industry is immorally endangering public safety & lives by "beta" testing their product on the public. In addition, there are valid reasons current law insists on clear front windows.. Clear, unshaded front windows allow other drivers to be clued in on the intent of the other drivers, often even before the other driver releases the brake or changes lanes.. Other drivers have NO clue as to what these vehicles will do next. Imagine following this vehicle? Even in the parking lot at the beginning of the clip. The car jammed on its brakes for a person that was way out in front of it. A person driving the car behind it would have been totally taken off guard by the illogical choice the vehicle made IMO #2, these vehicles should be legally required to be painted a color that indicates to all it is not operated by a human. Much as those who've been convicted of DUI are provided with yellow plates in some states.. Informing other drivers to WATCH OUT! Waymo insisted the vehicle continued in a safe manner.. IMO #3, that's a blatant LIE! "Stay seated with your seatbelt on"? Not me, one wrong move would have been enough & I'd have been out that piece of technological arrogance!
32:11 Not convinced those are ultrasonic sensors at all. I found that article, and it misidentifies a few of the other sensors. Could be speakers, as the waymo can say automated messages to people in the way, or could just be ventilation are my guesses.
@@puregero All good points! Though the communication speaker is in the front behind the grille on the passenger side; as seen in LA video #1 in the intro. I'm also under the impression that Waymo uses water cooling for hardware, according to their first responder training videos. I'll ask around
I took a Waymo to Union Station last week and it dropped me off in the driveway entrance with no access to the sidewalk. First, this was not an appropriate place to stop and drop off people, and second it was next to a planter not next to a sidewalk. I thought it might take me to the ride share drop off on the other side of the station, or at least closer to the front door. I'll give it another try next time I'm there, but otherwise it was a fun driverless ride that could have been a bit smoother.
this is hilarious but yet also terrifying and people want to put their life in the hands of a computer driver? LUL a perfect example of insanity they should of shut the car down till the assistance guy got there period
