Semi-normal people discussing God’s word, and how it applies to daily life. Rachelle & Carder host a morning show on 89.3 KSBJ in Houston. Anything But Quiet Time is an inside look into what they’re learning as they read through the Bible. It’s kind of like that conversation that happens when you attend a really cool small group at your church.

Rachelle you can write! Just because you had a cold beautiful words of wisdom and perspective flowed out of you. I lost a son and a husband to death. I don’t have assurance that either are with God but I trust Him. Hey Debbie! So yes, the Bible teaches that God is one, but also that Father is God, Son is God and the Holy Spirit is God. Analogies are tough on this one, but the best (that I've seen) would be like an apple. The skin is not the flesh, the flesh is not the seeds, and the seeds are not the skin... but all 3 exist as an apple. My question is, if it's not the KJV supported by 5600 or so documents, which one of the 200+ versions that came out of 80ish documents are the pure words? If you believe one is, all the others are in error.

@@AnythingButQuietTime The very first chapter and 16 verses of the New Testament begins with a contradiction. Matthew 1:1 states that Joseph is in the bloodline of David. Ezekiel 37:24 prophesizes the bloodline of the Messiah will come through David. Was Joseph the father of Jesus? I thought Jesus was begotten by God the Father (John 3:16). Correct me if I'm wrong (but I'm not). Because the Bible tells me so. In John 1:45, Philip said to Nathanael that "Jesus was the Son of Joseph." So maybe Mary wasn't a virgin? Again in Luke 2:48, Mother Mary claims that "Joseph is the father of Jesus." I'm really confused now, who is Jesus father? Do you want more? These are some of the Bible's most popular verses. There are so many verses evangelists and preachers avoid because of contradictions. When people read the Bible, they don't do it with God-given free will. They don't questions obvious contradictions. Why would God give you free will if He didn't want you to use it? Who do you think God favors, those who use his gifts or those who don't?
@AnythingButQuietTime
@AnythingButQuietTime Месяц назад
@@MH55YT appreciate your feedback! We may explore in a future episode. As for John 1 and Luke 2... it seems more than appropriate to use the term "father" for Joseph. Is it wrong to use "father" for someone who is raising a child that is not biologically their own? As for Ezekiel... it is 37:24 you're referencing, or did you type the wrong verse number? Not seeing "bloodline" in 37:24.... Again, thank you for sharing!

I watched a short from this episode for the first time and I immediately came here to listen to the entire episode. At the beginning of this podcast, you had mentioned that your channel gets a lot of traffic from shorts and that traffic has been atheist and or people who fall on the opposite ideological spectrum of a topic you’re discussing. I would love to hear your thoughts and insights related to some uncomfortable truths that I believe the Lord has shown me. Before that, I wanted to to say how grateful I am to have found your channel. The word gratitude falls short of expressing how much I appreciate you both for the work you put into this podcast and for the lives that have been enriched because of the discussions you share. I specifically enjoy how approachable you present topics and questions that can challenging for people. Your discussions come across very relatable, and even disarming, to the point where it helps people take a less guarded posture so that they might better receive God’s Word as you present it in Love. Because I don’t want my words to be a stumbling block to anyone I will ask your permission If it’s OK to discuss two specific changes that were made to the New Testament. I’m not questioning a misplaced “the” or “and”, I am also not getting weeded down by a word that can be translated in some circumstances to mean something slightly different. I believe that these things to be both deceptive and deliberate. I feel a strong conviction about that stance but I am more than willing to listen if somebody can make it make sense. You have rightly pointed out during this podcast that not every conviction that we feel is a conviction that everybody would or should feel. For the man that knows it to be sin, then for him it is sin. I whole heartedly agree and I’ve experienced times in my life when the Lord specifically told me that I was to abstain from different things. Even though what He was telling me was not found in the Word, I understood that what was revealed to me was not a request and to disobey would for me be sin. It was the Holy Spirit having an intimate conversation within my spirit giving me an opportunity to grow in my relationship with Him. I hope that this illustrates that I understand the difference between personal conviction and convictions we should all share due to biblical truth. Is there a topic that is too taboo to be discussed amongst believers because of how difficult it can be when an undeniable amount of evidence brings into question the validity of a long held belief or church tradition? If I’m allowed to ask questions about some uncomfortable truths, please let me know it is ok to ask. The funny thing is that I think most people believers and nonbelievers alike have questioned this at some point, even if superficially. I will understand if there’s certain things that you don’t want to discuss on your channel. Most of the church leadership that I’ve asked for their input about this have shut the conversation down completely.

Thank you both enough for taking time to read and respond to my comment. Please bear with me and if you could help me understand why this is OK I would be ever so grateful. The word says that we cannot serve to masters does it not? In short, we cannot worship both God and the devil. I will have to look up the old testament reference, but there was a time when the priests would worship God with their mouths, but impact they were still engaging in pagan and demonic rituals. The term cultural appropriation is spoken a lot these days. When I believe this to be is demonic appropriation. Yeshua/ Jesus was crucified when? Was it not at the end of Passover? If it’s true and popular culture practices, otherwise is that not a problem? Look up in the King James Version of the Bible Acts12:1-4 . Acts 12:4 is the only time this word was used and then was later changed back to the original truth in the new King gang’s version. I’m fully aware that you’re gonna have slight differences between versions that are printed today of the Bible. That’s the easy and straightforward part. The truth behind why the words were changed leads to some profound questioning of what is widely accepted in Christianity today. Thank

I have a question. In the King James Bible, was it politically motivated to change the word Passover to the word Easter? To change passover to Easter is deceptive at its core and an outright lie. Can anyone tell me why the scribes collectively allowed our Savior’s name to be changed? I can understand why the enemy would fight to have the name above all names changed, because with just a mention of that name, demons would flee. If someone has justifiable historical reasoning, as to why his name was changed, I would sincerely like to hear what you have to say. Thank you.
@lukemoone4702
@lukemoone4702 Месяц назад
I don’t have historical reasoning, but maybe because the English called Passover Easter and that’s what they wanted to go by? Although it would be the same just completely different names, it’s quite strange. I’ve never heard of it, can I see where you got it from?
@jarlfrosty
@jarlfrosty Месяц назад
I mean, it’s just a name given for the day. It’s still Passover seeing as the root word for Easter is still the Greek word “pascha” which means Passover. Passover being called Easter changes nothing for Passover seeing as it’s still celebrated properly by the Catholic Church, Orthodox Church, Assyrians, Anglicans and some Protestant groups.
@Karbonthirteen
@Karbonthirteen Месяц назад
I don’t want to upset anyone. I sincerely don’t. I was socked and disgusted when I found out the truth. It was hard for me to wrap my head around when i found out that a large majority of believers and I imagine all of leadership knows about this, but it never gets discussed. I don’t want to say anything that’s going to be a stumbling block for someone else, at the same time I would love for somebody to make it make sense. What if I told you that those two words have absolutely nothing to do with each other, would you be willing to hear what I have to say? All I would like to do is have a rational and unemotional discussion about this topic with the hope that you will keep an open mind and will pray about what we discuss. I would really like to hear what other believers think about this topic. It goes way deeper and explains everything that didn’t make sense from a Christian perspective. At the end of it, I believe we are left with one question. Can we worship both God and the devil? The Word is explicitly clear that we cannot do both. Even after we have all agreed that what we discussed was true I have genuinely asked believers and leadership alike to give me a biblical reason why this is anything other than the worship and honoring of demons and I’m told that it’s either not important or that it is different without being able to in any way show that there is a difference.

You're talking about acts chapter 12? It suppose to be Easter. Passover is celebrated at the 14th of Nisan/Aviv in the Jewish calendar, and then the 15th to the 21th is the feast of unleavened bread. The pagen holiday ishtar, which Catholic Church has imprinted to be the time Easter is celebrated the first weekend after the first full moon after the 21th of march. Herod arrested Peter at the unleavened bread, so the Passover had already passed. But he wanted to put him on trial before Easter because he celebrated the pagen holiday.

The only "plurality" that I'd associated with the God of the Bible is the Trinity. But this is not 3 separate entities but One God Whom exists as 3 Persons. There is no pantheon nor a suggested pantheon or else we would not have verses such as ‭Deuteronomy 6:4 ESV‬ [4] “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Notice Elohim is used here.
@joakimmoller

אלוהים, is plural, yes. But the verbs is singular when it talks about the living God, which is in trinity. For example the first verse in the bible is ברשית=in the beginning אלוהים =gods ברה created (used for singular person) את=(untranslatable word meaning the same as alpha and omega) השמיים=the heavens And so on.... So elohim means Gods in singular, and Jesus is mentioned as Alpha and Omega already in the first verse.

The Bible is awesome. I used to feel the same way why do I have to read a book written by man. Either I believe God directs traffic or not. He put those words in there through the authors in that book same as he does today but remember the devil has dominion on earth and lives to destroy, kill and deceive. I also used to say the Bible contradicted itself but that was an excuse I would use to stay in self will run riot and not have to be convicted by the words in the Bible qhich always ring true to me but how as a wretch can I ever live up to them. Once I surrendered my ignorance, shame, guilt and foolishness to the Holy Spirit, my brother Jesus and my God the Kng of Kings I was introduced to those who could help me understand. I was wondering if you all could talk about bi and gay in one of your episodes. I have a few friends that have a lot of questions on being bi and gay and what the Bible says about that. Also why does God say that it’s a sin. We know that he is against it but why? They aren’t hurting anyone. All of those questions if that makes sense.

Those are great questions! Thank you for asking that. We'll discuss on potentially answering these in a future episode. Thank you Krista!

Going above and beyond was always my goal. That said, the store I work for has really beaten my drive down. I went from server to District Manager, but now(in retail) I just can’t get that drive back. But then retirement is weeks away. Thanks for being with me on my drive in. You two make me think and smile. Have a great week!

Look at corinthians. You dont tolerate people willingly sinning. You kick them out of church....but once they repent and CHANGE, then they are to be forgiven (this does NOT mean skirting consequences)

Yes! This clip is from a bigger conversation about criticism going even beyond Biblical instruction. Taking matters like that into our own hands can lead to a lack of grace and compassion. I always want to apply Biblical instruction but never forget I'm a sinner too while doing it. - Carder

Starts to listen to her inner voice, then retracts it and says no if God says otherwise in a book written by man that I have blindly dedicated my life to then thats what it is. How naive and sad. God is within you. God communicates with you through your own conscience. How is He to get through to you when you willingly deafen yourself in the name of organized religion? This, in my opinion, is one of the ultimate sins.

Sure, god cares enough to depise gay people, but not enough to cure cancer, end homelessness, end disease, ect. Got it. This is why I dont believe in the Christian god.
