It's funny that it seems he has difficulty NOT acting, and for years I have been working on being an actor. I think I love him because we are opposites. I feel judged, everything I do, I feel judged, and he goes the other way like, "I will act crazy, and I know you will judge me." We have the same message, he is just a LOT BRAVER
Je suis allé voir Charlélie Couture en concert, première et dernière fois, car les morceaux sont si triturés qu'on ne les reconnaît pas, quelle déception !
Everybody has this loud, raw consciousness flowing through them. Society teaches us to filter it, distill it, and process it in an attempt to bring order to chaos. Matthew Silver has been given a gift where he can tap into that raw consciousness. It's primal. It's like watching the programming code instead of the application.
I hope folks understand the importance of his speech. But more over just how absolutely GRUELING sumo training truly is. This is a sport steeped in tradition where there is a code of conduct one must adhere to. It is a brotherhood but you must prove yourself and climb through the ranks catering to your superiors first and foremost. It is a sport full of honor and integrity and through that discipline champions are born. This is not two fat guys pushing each other around. It is in my opinion the last ancient Japanese tradition that follows the same code of conduct Samurai went through. Cleaning toilets with a toothbrush as Akebono stated isn't the worst of it. Wiping your superior sumo's ass after he goes the bathroom would be. And YES they do make the juniors do that. This is why many don't make it because of how grueling the whole training process truly is. So hopefully people have a newfound respect and appreciation for this ancient tradition.
I really appreciate that someone really sees his value so we could have a chance to see this meaningful life changing show, crazy and a little bit silly performance but wise words!!! WELL DONE!!! Matthew!
The whole “You’re judging me! I tricked myself” bit is extremely genius and important. It talks on the inner anxiety each of us can have. It’s not about what THEY are saying… because it’s not THEM that are saying anything. It’s an illusion in your own mind. YOU are saying the negative and you trick yourself into thinking THEY are saying it, even though THEY are silent. There’s such a brilliance to this man, masked in “clown.”
