Most of my videos will be how to, tips and tricks for auto body and painting, or other misc auto painting and body related videos along with car and truck videos.
Good question, Black tends to make the flake 'sparkle' more, but I have used a gold or silver metallic base before. This tends to make the overall appearance a little brighter and can take less flake - a little easier for the novice. Like using a gold base with gold flake, silver metallic with a silver flake
Go ahead and email me pics and details, and I'll see if I can give you a quote. All work has to go through Bert's H-D now. scott.f at bertsbarracuda.com
Definitely a lot of work. I does help having your own bodyshop though. I believe this is my 5th frame off. Good luck if you decide to redo your truck! 👍
Absolutely beautiful work as always, and it's great seeing a new video, if you're able to, please keep them coming sir, we all love following your works of art 👍
Looks awesome. Was wondering what you been up to lately. If you can, can you do a video on how to prep and paint a set of harley hard bags off of a street glide, road king,or road glide? Getting ready to repaint mine and kinda nervous cause I've never messed with anything made of ABS Plastic. Thank you
Most pearls will change the shade of the white. Old school pearls 'really' changed the whites to a greenish shade. I started with a solid bright white though. There are some nice pearl whites out there now that retain a nice 'white'
Harley Davidson is to long on tank it was inside the flame. you do very good work I'm not knocking your work. but for being one of 200 hundred I would never do that to a customer. I painted for 44 year's in automotive many motorcycle cars and transport trucks. I also paint on canvas. I am just way to fussy.
@@TAZattitude I'm looking to put the GMC V-6 back in a 65 Suburban (it's got a 70's 305 SBC right now) By the way, that build is very nice. You do great work.
@TAZattitude thank you. I wasn't sure, as I had seen someone use 1500 to wetsand after painting and then clearcoat over that. Then wetsand again. I guess with us amatures, there is plenty of conflicting steps, so a guy doesn't know what order to proceed with.
Sometimes I do this, sometimes I do not. The idea behind this is normally the nasty edge buildup that shows under the topcoat clear is the 'first' color you put on your graphics. So if it's clear, than nothing will show. Now of course if you go too thick on any of the other colors, of course, these will show and you'll have a problem. BUT on the other hand if you have a simple transition like a black base, then a charcoal outline, silver flames, all these work well 'over' one another, so no clear basecoat would be needed. It's all a job by job decision.
I’m going to do a double black stripe so with bright orange being my base coat would I need to shoot a light grey color over the black after I have the stripes taped so it won’t interfere with the orange.
Yes, I would do that. Orange is pretty transparent so the light gray will help the orange cover better. Don't put too much gray though. Just enough to kill 'most' of the black. Be sure to use a very light gray. Even a white with a tinge of orange in it would be a good ground coat
Be sure to use a clear with catalyst. Put on the correct amount of clear. Try to get slick as possible to eliminate orange peel, thus creating more sanding. Then wetsand and polish
Loving the videos and just subscribed because this is the best instruction out there without all the hype they do. Wow man you get that flake to lay smooth, I'm using a 1.7m nozzle and the flake just gets blocked all the time, it was a 0.06mm silver flake in binder and if i get it going on the panels it just sicks up too much after the clear coat which was 3 coats of clear to bury the flake.
Thank you....using House of Kolor flakes for example, the UMF and the MF flakes are no problem. You get into the F flakes which are the larger, yes, they will stand up our of the interclear. You will need to resand your clear to smooth the surface out. Then either apply your candie(s) or reclear. THEN it will be smooth
@@TAZattitude Cheers man, maybe I'm expecting too much of the big flake so yer more clear after sanding. using mixed flakes as you say would give it an extra pop as well. 👍
I appreciate it Leonard. Still getting back on my feet, but doing better. Would LOVE to get back into doing the vids. Back to doing cool stuff at my new job at the Harley dealership
So sorry to hear of your wife pal, I really wish you all the good luck in the future. As you know I have a custom painting business in wales uk and some what know how hard it is to run this type of business. My wife does all the books and finances so it’s more than enough running the shop. 👍
