Hi there i know it some time since you done this did you put additional bluetooth on it as this does not come fitted did you get a module and fit it as im trying to find something but keep getting sent wrong parts great video cheer
@@jimcrickmore1347 since this video has been made the better option would be the NoName RCD330+ which is a Bluetooth and CarPlay/androidauto unit. It’s also oem and fits the same. However to answer your question, yes on this particular radio (RCD310 Amundsen) I fitted a Bluetooth module which was inline of the quad lock. The latter rcd315 Amundsen+ does come with Bluetooth inbuilt.
I have fitted this and am made up with it, everything works fine. Mine doesn't have bluetooth built in though so I have had to buy the bluetooth module to get the phone to work, I can't find the wiring loom though to connect the module to my RNS 315. Do you know what cable I need? Can't find the right one online but I want the benefit of the phone feature as there is a button there! Thanks 😊
@@AN-ww4gc I wired the USB adaptor to a bridge connector on the fuse box. You take out the fuse then plug in the tap in adaptor in the space and put both fuses in the holder. You just need trial and error to find which one only powers up when the ignition is on. The earth , I used one of the bolts on the side of the dash under the cover. You now have a USB socket behind the radio to plug them into. I have a Kenwood radio , so there was much more room.
@@adlam97531 Thanks a lot. I have the same model of car as the one in the video, so was planning on using the same fuse. Do you know what amp fuse I need? Sorry to be a pain.
@@adlam97531 Thank you very, very much. I'm installing footwell lights so, if you've done it already, I will follow your advice. Thanks again for taking the time to answer.
Thank you for the very clear video. You made a plastic blanking plate out of sheet plastic. Why don't you just sandwich that plate between the bulk head and the original sound tube to stop the sound without replacing the intake tube assembly with one from NC1? All you have to do is then loosening 2 bolts at the bulkhead.
Nope. only difference is the colour of the LED's and the boot logo will be VW and not Skoda. Personally though. RCD330+ is the unit to go for now. The RNS315 is over 10 years old now and it shows.
Hi there, I’m looking to upgrade my radio head unit video really helped I was wondering what else is required? If I purchase a RNS315 and a nav cable what else is required?? Cheers Euan
The video shows everything needed for the installation. Radio, GPS antenna, potentially a DAB antenna if you get a radio with DAB and a microphone if you also get a unit with inbuilt Bluetooth. However like I mentioned in a previous comment. The RNS315 is old now and with the CarPlay/Android Auto, the NoName RCD330+ (Green LED) is my recommendation now.
Best place to buy is off AliExpress, it’s called NoName RCD330+ green led (Skoda) which is more than the normal NoName RCD330+ (blue or red led can’t remember)
Hello, I'm thinking of going to visit, do you know how accessible this place is? is it off limits or does somebody own it now? Great footage btw, you made it look awesome and that's why I want to go see it.
It’s off limits due to buildings and quarry having old equipment and potential risk of collapse etc. never been inside but it is off limits. Enter at your own risk.
Fakra GPS module, they are £10 from china. This will work fine in a 2013 fabia. Just make sure you get the Amundsen+ RNS315 (NOT RNS310) as the 310 is old and not good. I swapped mine out with the 315 about 2 months after filming this video. BUT... in todays world I would look at the NoName RCD330+ (Green LED) which is more like the new mk3 fabias radio with car play and android auto... plus not too expensive either. The installation for that is the same as this but without the GPS wiring.
If it’s an RNS310 it won’t have a Bluetooth module inside it for phone connectivity and requires a separate module. I’ve linked the one I had in the description of the video. If you’ve got the amundsen+ / RNS315 you have the Bluetooth module. Google RNS315 user manual on google and you will find the manual to guide you through it :)
Climatronic is a factory option on the Elegance spec fabia and not retrofittable. MFSW was retrofitted by a Briskoda member (Eddie-NL), he made the loom for me and fitted for £80. The wheel was £35 and I used my old airbag. - The guide to fitting a mfsw was found on the polo 6r forums of the time.
This unit only supports Bluetooth audio and phone calls and the supplied Inbuilt Skoda Sat-Nav. To get CarPlay / Android auto you need to have a look at the NoName RCD330+ - The installation of that unit is exactly the same as this unit but without the need to run the GPS module.
I’ve just purchased a Skoda Monte Carlo 2012 plate. Will the sat nav system work on my model or is the car too old. The car doesn’t have Bluetooth either. Can you help please?
Hi 3’s, feel free to join the Fabia Monte Carlo page on Facebook. - anything over 2010 (my fabia in this video) has the newer canbus meaning it will be direct plug and play. BUT make sure you get the RNS315 / Amundsen + NOT RNS310 / Amundsen. Alternatively you can look into the ‘Noname RCD330+’ which isn’t inbuilt satnav but newer CarPlay / Android auto :)
Great video. Just purchased one of these and it should arrive early next week so just doing some installation research. just what I was after. One question - how did you go about VCDS part for the additional features?
Congrats on your purchase! A worthy upgrade :) I found a local VCDS user on briskoda (they have a list of active VCDS users and their locations) who coded it for me. You could also invest in OBDeleven if you wanted. But I would just call a local garage and see if they have VCDS / VAG-Com and wouldn’t mind checking a few adaptations for you.
Hi I have ordered one of these to update my 2007 Fabia but I notice your aerial is a 2 pin as is the new radio, my aerial is a single pin will this fit or do I need an adapter is some sorts. Thanks Danny
Daniel Wright ah... yes an adaptor is needed for the aeria and also for the car itself. The 2007 fabia has different control module to the 2010+ so you will need a canbus adapter
J_Grindel When you say I need an adapter is it just called a can bus adapter as there seem so many different ones on the internet, could you point me in the right direction. Regards Danny
nikhil bose apologies for late reply! I upgraded to the RNS315 a few months after I made this video. RNS310 and RNS315 are the same unit with the 315 being the update version with better internals and inbuilt storage for maps.
Hi I’ve just fitted the rns 315 and Bluetooth module into my 62 plate fabia 1.6 tdi elegance everything works ok sat nav radio aux etc I’ve paired my phone ok but microphone that’s pat of the Bluetooth module doesn’t work any ideas ?
Scott B Yes! If you already have the Bluetooth module in your cars it’s a straight swap!!! It’s a direct swap even if you don’t have the phone kit :) Best to get the RNS315 as it’s a better unit overall
hi @J_Grindel. I have Fabia vRS 2013 with simple radio and would like to change with this one. On the steering wheel I have buttons to operate my phone but because I have simple radio without bluetooth I cannot connect it. I do not have all those option on the main board in MFD (Got only MFD, Audio and Setup... but you have there + Navigation and Phone). The question is: If I will replace this device, will I be able to connect my phone and operate it with steering wheel button?
andriesu1 You should be able to control the volume etc from the wheel even with stock swing radio. You won’t see phone or nav if the car doesn’t have it currently as the car won’t see the modules. If you install a radio it might pop up in the MFD if not you will need to get it coded in via VCDS. Join the Fabia VRS Mk2 page or join the Fabia Monte Carlo page (I’m an admin so will accept ASAP) on Facebook if you need more help as easier to show pictures and links on there.
callum graham it’s quite difficult due to the fact it has an air duct going to it for a so called fridge... if you google Skoda fabia mk2 workshop manual you will find a free workshop guide and you might be able to find it on there
Hi. Thanks for the video is very informative. Did you have to swap the aerial on your Fabia to get DAB on your RNS315 unit? What interface did you use to update the MFD? Apologies if these are repeated questions! Thanks again
joxford1234 hi, I fitted a auto leads Dab Windscreen antenna for DAB and I got a local VW guy to use VAG-COM / VCDS to turn on telephone and navigation.
Hi thanks for your knowledgeable video , My car is VW Touran and it has RN310 it has the phone symbol , even on the steering wheel is with phone symbol but it does not have bluetooth , i just want to know is it possible to add bluetooth in my car if yes how?
ks MADON hi, so I’m guessing the phone button just mutes the radio?? Or do you have a physical phone holder / mount in the car? If not you can install and VW Bluetooth module. I listed the one I had in the description. It’s an in-line unit so it’s very easy to install.
