I don't think losing 2 players who go on to first team football is the massive indictment you think it is. Every club has plenty of examples of players they have lost in the academy. That's the cost of a game that only allows you to field 11 players on the field, you can't keep everyone.
@@michaelboiteau9890: what we need to learn how to do consistently is to nurture talent. But it's not all one-sided - the youngsters need to have the right attitude also.
All senior clubs have a good list of Academy talents who left and have flourished elsewhere. After buying Gray and Bergvall, how much room is there for Academy players to get into the first team? Not much?
We have heard it all before about our Academy, and also the “we are buying the best youth out there” as part of a “rebuild”. The end result has been that very few Academy players are good enough and never make it to the first team. If they do then they never fulfil their potential. The other side of this bullshit is one trophy in 24 years.
It must be galling being 20, endlessly running your tits off in the U21 side on 70k a year, and then seeing Archie Gray getting brought in for 40 million, and jetting straight into the first team, on 70k... a week.
I am sorry he has done absolutely nothing with our academy youth other than bring them to filled the bench when he has perfect opportunity to give them a start but he chose to stick with deadwood.
I actually believe that one of the main reasons for Ange's appointment is that he's going to make use of the academy. I imagine that the club recognises the talent in our youth system and actually had that as a requirement for him. That also could be why players like Udogie had a breakthrough season and the reason that he played academy players in the FA cup. Good signs...
We know what will happen in the future. Players will develop and then be sold to the highest bidder like always. I don't know about you, but most of us know how this goes
@@QuotidianStupidity: The change is that Spurs are no longer a 'stepping stone' club for players intending to move on to the giants of the game. We have the infrastructure in place and are now building a squad that will hopefully lift us into that elite group. The EPL is the most difficult league and we'd probably have been nailed on CL qualifiers anywhere else, but there are no trophy guarantees - as HK belatedly discovered upon joining BM - but as long as we are playing entertaining footbal and challenging for trophies I will be happy.
His problem at Spurs wasn't his talent not being recognised or used, but his attitude was arrogant - something he has more recently admitted; saying he needed the wake-up call and has changed at Sporting. Apparently Spence is spoiling his career prospects with similar attitude problems. A player needs confidence, but arrogance is detrimental to development.
When Morgan interviewed Ronaldo, he learned that no young players at any of his clubs clung to him to learn from him. None! No CR fan here, but jeez man, imagine being that overconfident as a kid. Federer, whilst number 1 in the world, wanted Tony Roache to coach him, but Tony declined. Federer flew on Xmas day to Australia to knock on his door on Boxing Day to ask him again in person. Guess what, Tony agreed. That is what champions are made of, humble and never stop trying to get better.
Archie grey doesn’t want to go to Spurs, he says he wants to win trophies & don’t plan to go the Harry Kane disgrace route …. But Archie grey is spurs level of player for low wages and no ambition which is perfect for Spurs teams like city will get him when he’s bigger than spurs and he will go win trophies elsewhere 😂😂😂
@@davidisgoated: Mourinho wasn't the same after his RM experience, but he was also very unlucky to get slammed by the pandemic shutdown. We were playing exciting, attractive football and topping the EPL until we let WH come back from 0-3 down to equalise and we reverted to caution. Plus GLC - who was very effective - picked up a nasty injury.
Spurs are a joke club. Sell Harry Kane and have no intention to bring in any replacement 😂😂😂😂 And Spurs fans still believe they won’t get relegated next season.
Other than VDV, Romero and Son, the other players would not get into any other side in the premier league. You can’t stay up in the premier league if you have 3 good players. They are going down next season.
@jeffrey6171 Yeah, these players are shit according to everyone until they leave Spurs. We had almost 10 years of other Prem fans telling us Kane was shit and wouldn't do anything anywhere else, so apologies for not giving your opinion much credit. Also you don't help yourself by saying we're gonna get relegated which I'm sure you don't believe!
We pay the highest ticket prices in world football we’ve waited 25 years under Levy & ENIC telling fans to wait longer and be patience is pure comedy and and a violation of our fanbase
