Wow I never read a few of these issues. I read this series in OHC a good decade and a half ago. Very much enjoyed it. Each story felt like a big movie. Great run down memory lane looking at this. I might have to pick this book up. Great overview, as always.
I got the crud too. Glad you talked about this. I was curious what you thought. I’m more impressed with RDJ and his weird facial expression when it wa announced. He didn’t smile. It was like this weird smug / pride face? I can’t explain it.
I can remember reading this a couple of years ago and initially I was very excited given dd is rarely used in these big event comics but you were absolutely right in what you said about it and it’s a pretty forgettable overall.
Man would love a comparison between this and the Ennis max run. I thought Jason Aaron did a great job but nothing has ever reached the brilliance of the Ennis max run
I've only read the first hardcover of the Ennis punisher max & really enjoyed it . I wish they had big trades like that of the 90s punisher war journal run
I really enjoyed it for the most part I just wish that the fight between batman and killer croc was a bit better and the ending was executed a bit better.
While I prefer Ennis’ Max run on Frank, I love this one too. I personally believe the ‘King of Killers’ stuff Aaron did recently was just a less effective and toned down version of the same concepts Aaron used here and much prefer this end to the character
Punisher Max is such a mixed bag for me. I dislike how adverse it is to featuring the wider Marvel world, but on the other hand characters like Frank or Kingpin are written amazingly well. But then, even with the writing, the art is often poor and the levels of violence at times seem to make it cross over into parody territory.
@@JuniorArroyoOfficial these 2 complete collections cover the Jeph Loeb red hulk story. Jeff Parker takes over after on the solo title “Red Hulk”. These are out of print but there’s a new epic collection out that has the same contents of volume 1 of these complete collections.
@@BenGrimm1961 it might never! Book one and two are a complete arcbfrom the original writers. Sure there are 12 issues left but those Sturges issues are a weird mix of stuff that then is ended when new 52 starts up thereafter.
Titan is that guys name, not block or stone. Also it does include spinoff issues it has a summer special and the allen the alien issue. how are you going to make a video covering this when you’re clueless on the subject?!
came to see if this was a good version of the book to get - kind of disappointed that you rattled off a bunch of big story moments that didn't seem very necessary to the point of the video. can't watch the rest because don't want to get every surprise or twist spoiled before even getting the book.
Just read all of them in a week and it’s really good but the final compendium where they skip 5 years is horrible writing it’s just so thragg has an army all grown up
TBH, Ultimate Spider-Man did the clone saga way better than how it's written in Amazing Spider-Man because there was so much to catch up in the clone saga, from Amazing Spider-Man, Spectacular Spider-Man, and Peter Parker Spider-Man which is very confusing. Ultimate Spider-Man made it less convoluted by writing a better story. For example, having Ultimate Soider-Woman as a clone of Peter when she was created by Doc Ock makes sense while having Ben Reilly die over and over again while trying to piece his existence doesn't make sense. I mean, you started him off as a random clone of Spider-Man, then make him into a hero. kill him off, bring him back as a hero, make him into a villain, kill him off again, bring him back again, Make him into a hero, and make him into a villain again. This supports the reason why the Beyond storyline sucked, especially under the direction of Zeb Wells.
100 bullets was good, read lots of them even bought a few trade pbs,....have to rack this brother lono down and give it a shot,.... you could have gone a little more in depth with the review of the story though,...
The Tennesse school board decided this book was inappropriate for 8th grade due to coarse language, one instance of nudity & some adult discussion of sexuality, among other things. In other words, if this was a movie, it would be R-rated. Eighth graders would be too young to be admitted. Maus is a great book, but it covers a very dark period of history that is not appropriate for all ages. I don't think children & young teens need to be traumatized about the horrors of war at this level. They need to feel secure. High school is different because by about age 16 kids begin to have questions about serious issues & to think critically. They will soon be voters & the weight of the world will be upon their shoulders. A book like Maus will be important in instructing them about the realities of evil & why they need to be vigilant as citizens to protect our freedoms. The word "banned" gets thrown around a lot any time a parent objects to a book, but it's really not that cut and dried. Many books just need to be managed age-appropriately.
Age appropriate-ness is totally important. At the time of this recording- it was all out banning, not putting it where the book belongs. I took AP European history in 10th grade and we were learning about the Holocaust. In that case this book would be age appropriate. I'm not arguing for elementary school kids reading this. I don't let my own kids read mainstream comics yet since they are not age appropriate to read them, in my parental opinion. I was arguing against all out banning.
Finished Once and Future and it really did go overboard. Always fast paced but it went to far. Grandma was too op Duncan hardly did anything and how many power ups and changes did they have. Rose became a queen. Overkill
@@norrbottenslanmanga3031 just play it in the background while doing dishes! I don't do spoilers during overviews, but if flipping thru the book is a spoiler then just listen
@@BKsBullets Yeah! Hey, while im commenting, i have a question regarding the two final collected Blue Beetle (2006 series) Books. Are they worth it? Does not look like DC will release Jaime Reyes Book 3.
Hi do you know if this collects the Wildstorm Summer Special? The name of the story is called Orbital. The wikipedia entry says that it does, but I'm not so sure I saw it here. Thanks.
