As the GTA's population continues its rapid growth, our industry is working to ensure that we have diverse residential options and sufficient employment space to meet the needs of families and businesses - today and tomorrow.
Developers are a dime a dozen - it’s hilarious that he’s being presented as saint here lol. Good timing folks, right after the sleazy contract his company “won”…all the people praising him are just part of the same circle jerk.
What's funny is the fact you omitted any wrongs... People displaced, City Flooding due to excessive construction, and lack of New Infrastructure to match the construction. At least acknowledge what is in fact, then make your own opinion. We can look into Yimby cities and see the problems are consistent... I wonder why...
Single family homes are the IDEAL kind of housing. Building flats or condos in residential neighborhoods is creating imperfection in perfect low density environments.
That's not true. Single family homes are suitable for some very wealthy people, but forcing everyone to have them as theit only option, and demanding tht no one else should have a choice only means more homelessness & not enough housing for workers in that area. Thus also more long, long traffic jams because of longer commuters. These are well known & established facts of Urban Planning.
@@pebblepod30 You have many misconceptions about the subject. First of all if we build more single family homes, more people can live in them. The idea that people should live close from work is an obsolete concept as more and more people work from home and that will increase in the future. It’s not sprawl that causes traffic it’s more density AKA more people per square km, which causes roads to be congested. Otherwise European and Asian cities wouldn’t have traffic. So there’s absolutely no correlation between single family homes and traffic.
@@urbanistgod sprawl undoubtably puts more cars on the roads in the first place. Large main roads will have more cars on them because they will be the only ways for residents to go places. Yes, there js traffic in cities. But, in a city, you dont have to drive, its not required. You can walk, bike, take a tram, etc to get to where you need. There are overall way less cars per resident. Plus, car centric infrasture often loses a city money in the mainenance costs. Plus, with few roads connecting things, if one road is block then you effectively block off thousands of people instead of just a few hundred. Oh and dont get me started on how big box stores make the state less money than small, connected shops. Oh, and parking lots being a large liability.
@@ArachnidAbby Driving in cities is a requirement for many people. So you wanna make cities more dense for “walkability” purposes but density itself creates traffic for those who need a car. Did you even read my comment? We’re not talking about just more cars but more cars per square km.
Except Single family homes are not the ideal for everyone. That’s why it’s still good to remove single family zoning. Also, even if I work from home, I still would like to have shops and other places necessary for errands within as close to walking distance as possible. Also, how does more cars per area = more congestion.

Thank you for your comment! We recognize that affordability is a challenge across the GTA. The industry aims to produce different types of housing at a range of prices and a wider variety of new housing options to drive increased affordability and density (close to transit where it makes sense) to help close the existing (and growing) housing shortage. One of the reasons why home builders are building these different types of homes is because land for building new homes in the urban core of Toronto is in short supply and most neighbourhoods in the core are highly sought after. When combined with low housing supply and a low vacancy rate for rental properties, this leads to higher prices. @@brcx3001 Not sure why you are asking and making assumptions. Have you never known someone in a family who spoke highly of another family member - and than mirrored those same sentiments as I have of that other family member? Please respect those who mean well without questioning their relationship network and association and demonstrating your ignorance of those networks and association.
What an amazing group of people who participated in our 2nd annual Race for Humanity!! Thanks for making it such a fun day and helping to raise funds for a worthy cause!
Hooray Marci!!! You are my favorite from "Circle Square!" Actually, in my opinion, you appeared to be the "normal" one on that show! You were the most photogenic, not creepy-looking, like some of the others!!! I gotta pray for the others, especially Martin (LOL!!!)
