Should have used a white primer rather the black, then you wouldn't have needed. so many coats to cover the repairs. You say you are going to use a 2K gloss next time. Not sure how that will look against the original base and clear panels on the car?
It's been three years, but can you clarify: 1. Remove the large nut that seals the fuel sender/pump to the top of the tank. 2. Rotate the newly freed fuel sender/pump until the fuel level float is freed from the fuel hose snag. My question: you mention using a scope or multimeter to confirm "values." What are the target values? How did the scope reveal values?

Haha, I paint discs on everything from this to Aston martins. Never ever had an issue 😂 blue point and some apex come standard paint on the discs too. After a couple of miles it will all be worn off. And saves spending time masking
Nice work. It's strange that people fit bleed valves to these engines, the n75 valve does a better job of controlling boost. I can't comment on whether having no recirculation valve matters but at least it hasn't got a blow off valve as they aren't compatible with the maf sensor. You could download the map from the ecu to see what has been done to it
I'm a ford and vauxhall guy (don't shoot me) 😃 and not so much vw if you get my drift, but I have a soft spot for these old Octavia's they look great imo. Definitely a future understated classic. Looks like previous owner/s knew what they were doing but just not that arsed and I've been there haha. Great upload and can't wait to see more on this project. And finally you should have more subs, see it all the time on RU-vid, great content not getting what it deserves, makes no sense. 🤔
Thank you, yeah I agree they are understated. This to me reminds me of a more modern day cav turbo or sapphire cosworth, especially with the police having so many of them. Thanks for your kind comment, the subs are slowly growing 😊
i swapped the small solid discs on my mk3 cav for the 256mil vented discs. got a manky set of calipers n brackets from vauxhall spares in harold hill then exchanged them for a AP Lockheed recond set and new AP discs and at trade prices too

Hi Dan, Please can you confirm at 8:08, which way round the tapered spacer sleeve goes on, behind the tensioner pully? I ask, as its not clear in the Haynes manual, which states "The small diameter end of the tensioner sleeve goes towards the block". However on the longitudinal cross section drawing of the engine, it shows sleeve the other way round?
@@DanielBall Thanks for confirming. Guess.... yet another error in the Haynes manual? The manual is ok to a point, for reference. However, your well presented and informative video's, are way better !!!
@@DanielBall Ask him if there's any jobs going at his place lol. Looking forward to another build though mate! Yours first though, can't wait for the vids on that!
I worked on these for 6 years pluss in a vaux dealer, same type of engine fitted to astras & cavs, calton, when you ever remove the cam box of you should empty the hydraulic tappets (put them in a vice one at a time ) it will start up every time as if you do not you will have to crank until the excess oil is pumped out , top tip Dave
