Hey y'all, it's Ammie (pronounced like "Amy") and I'm a queer ceramic artist, reader, art journaler, and Real Housewives enthusiast. Here you'll find looks at my Hobonichi journals, some studio vlogs, book chats, and whatever else is giving me joy at the moment. I'm glad you're here!
I've been using HP for about 6 years now, and it's changed my life. I'm more organized for sure, but I am also thinking more about my bigger life goals and, therefore, living more intentionally. I use this planner consistently because it's beautiful and feeds my soul. I love that it is both very functional and creative. I can't wait to see what you do with it and how you evolve with it.
I’m shook. I started chappy plans because of my obsession and love for the happy planner. Even my handle was a play on happy plans. I used to be wayyyyyyy in the community; I’ve definitely evolved and decided it’s a no thanks for me. However- LOVE that you’re exploring newfound loves and planning your sticker-loving heart out! I have legit HUNDREDS of HP accessories and stickers if you’d ever wanna dm me for anything “vintage” lol. I have an obscene amount of stuff. Welcome to the rabbit hole, Alice! 😂
Ok I've been avoiding HP because it's so cuuuutesy and I only ever see a few versions at Michael's or wherever and did not understand the disc bound thing. Now that I GET it and see the variety of options I'm obsessedddd and ordered one immediately. My old planner wasn't working for me either, gotta chase that high LOL
Would you say that the HP…makes your soul…shine? Sorry. Sorry! I had to. For what it’s worth I’m ditching the weeks as my work planner in 2025, also bc it’s too small. Ps / enjoyed your excitement over these new planners bc that’s what planner nerds do!! How are you finding the paper with different pens? Is it like printer paper quality?
I agree with the using it functionally part. I have a discbound bullet journal style planner. I don't do decoration until after I put down my plans and task lists. And even then I don't put that many stickers. The closest I get to the videos is Franken planning. I also have been using discbound on and off and typically alternate between a discbound system and a bullet journal. Glad you enjoy the happy planner! If you want functional jane's agenda sells more functional layouts for all the happy planner sizes.
I am moving out of my HP in 2025, but I’ve been in one for the last decade (grad school and the first 8 years of my teaching career). I have flipped my covers inside out before; I just put the “live creatively” part on the front and then put fun stickers on it to make it feel more me. I’m stoked for you. Very fun, and I love the color palettes you chose. ❤
@@ammieyallHemlock and Oak - the weekly for keeping lesson plans on hand (my team plans digitally, but I like writing mine out) and the daily duo as task management - I’ve been using a Raccoon Society paper pad to organize all my “to-dos” for my planning period, but then I tear it off and throw it away… which seems like it could cause future me some problems 😅. I also figure the daily will function better for personal items than my *millions* of notes in my Notes App. 🫣 Trying to consolidate down to a manageable system instead of being a stereotypically scattered ADHDer. 😂
Glad you’re blending what works. I love HP for its flexibility. I also love my Sterling Ink A5 commonplanner - similar to a hobonichi. I use both. I creatively decorate my HP monthly pages and some add-in pages, but you do not hafta do full out decor on every spread. I do “decor light” on most pages because some people so over decorate, there’s no space left for functionality. It loses a bit of reality for me when it’s all stickers, washi and decor with like 3 words in a box- that’s not practical for me. I have frankenplanned sections for meal planning,health/wellness, faith, notes. Then I have a full HP for work -teacher planner… which I love the ability to punch and add all my extra teacher info pages I need in to my planner. Then I use my SI as my catch all for overall life planning (schedules on monthly and weekly) and journal for each daily page. But I need all the writing space. But then when I have time, I love to go full out and do all the decor and it gives me all the happy sticker fun I want. It’s all about balance.
I am SO glad you are retrying the happy planner! I use a happy planner for work. I'm in education and have to keep work and personal separate. I have the classic layout. In the first box, I list the things I need to remind people of and things to follow up on. In the second box, I write the things I did that day at the end of the day before I leave work where I either helped move the ball forward on something critical or if I did something I can put down on my annual performance report. In the third box, I write something that I am grateful for that day so I end the day on a positive note and go home with a smile and not a smirk. Since I don't use Saturday or Sunday, I use the spaces for those two days as a running to do list for the week. Also, I have found the academic year happy planners designs are less woo and just something colorful and fun. I hope this comment helps!
You are officially my role model 😭 So much of this video and your openness resonated with me! I just recently graduated and moved to ATL, i’ve cried at the fox theater (in 2016 seeing shawn mendes lol), just got my first lil Richard (felt so wrong typing that but he’s my one true love), am bisexual, love to read (destiny is so adorable), and am ALWAYS prone to over sharing. Thanks for creating this content to help me get through the corporate office days. ❤
I would choose the folk art and feather one. The third one is too chaotic and the second one is just lined and uninspired. But whatever makes you happy is what you should go with. Someone needs to come out with a snark planner. On Tomoe River paper. Thanks for the video.
i haaaate happy planner bcoz it’s so corny but i do use it for my daily schedule and tasks lol. and you’re right about there not rlly being a lot of creators for them! i’m soooo excited to see how you use it :))) i have yet to find someone’s HP style that i like
Oh, I hope to see how you use your Happy Planner! I love the Happy Planner! I am also an artist…. I do plan functionally….but oh, how I also love getting creative in my Happy Planner! Enjoy!
I might be the only one who wasn’t betrayed by the clickbait 😂 my thought was immediately “if Ammie is leaving her hobo behind I HAVE to know where she’s moving to because there must be a good reason, and I should also look into it” 🤣 you might have too much influencer power over me 😆
@@ammieyall I love happy planning stickers but for some reason I hadn’t previously thought about the planners, I feel like I hear more about condren or passion planners. That said you aren’t the last one to try! Gotta say, the final planner you ended up with really looks so fun and there’s something to be said (for me at least) about seeing a planner that’s exciting even if the tasks you need to do are a little daunting.
I make a Frankenplanner every season, but still use my Weeks and Cousin. I still use my TNs, too. When you love planners and notebooks, you find a way to use them all.
I love almost all of the happy planners and supplies. I have ones that are outdated that I just use correction tape on. They are so beautiful. But my main gal is my Hobonichi Cousin. She’s my ride or die!!❤
Hi Ammie! You can mix and match the different parts of each planner you like. You can put the weeks you like in the cover of the other one you like. That is the best part about Happy Planner. I tried out their dashboard layout last year and it worked really well for the slower time of my life. I have moved back to the hobonichi weeks but I found that I need the mega to be able to do dailies in the back. I'm glad you found a planner that is working better for you!
Hi Ammie (and Richard and Tony)! I LOVE watching your videos! I was watching one of your other videos where you had done a REPORT spread. You could do those on the blank monthly page at the start of each month and do a recap for the month. I leave mine blank cause I have no idea what to do with them. I'm going to try the REPORT spread and see how I like it. I love how you use your cousin and it has given me so much inspiration.
There are so many Etsy sellers who sell covers for the Happy Planner. And there are inserts. I TRIED to like the Happy Planner, but I can’t get past the discs. I like neutral layouts or mostly neutral to decorate the way I like, so the Happy Planner inserts are too much for me. I love there are so many options to make us planner gals happy! ❤
You should choose the cover, discs, dividers, and layout you like. Customize your own planner. That’s what I do! You can have everything you like, in one planner!
For years I used a bullet journal to keep track of my life. However, when I got sick and needed more room to write and things to keep track of, I realized that I did not have near enough space. I did a ton of research and also gave Happy Planner a try. It was one of the best decisions I had made in a long time. Between the option of things to keep track of, the ability to customize everything about it and the best part for me, stickers and making your own, I love Happy Planner, and I hope you do as well. = )
