aluminium welds better after a good clean. stainless steel wire brush and some brake cleaner. brake cleaner wipe your filler rods as well. less contamination is key with alloy 👍
i think you should put a slight curve in the top of the rear bodywork, it might look a little better if you do. great looking otherwise and good progress.
Donald Healy (way back when) wanted pop up headlights on the Austin Healey Sprite. Alas, Research & Development along with Finance Department said nix nix. So that is why we had the Darling "Bug Eyed Sprite."
I think it would look better if the scalloped bit was only on the bottom, but I’m not sure that would be possible. I think you did great with the limitations of physical light.
Wouldn't it be easier to make the tilt angle of the headlights as low as possible, so that the headlights lower part don't tilt into the body? Kind of a Porsche 928 or 968 headlight
Rather than having your pivot points directly opposite each other (through the centre of the lights) you could offset the pivot points (outside point forward of centre, inside point rear of centre) and the headlight would then rotate as it lifts, allowing it to sit oriented outwards when down (as at the start of the video) but point forward when up - that would save a load of body work and be more flush.
I loved your old videos at the start of jigsaw but I’ve got to say the new edits and music gets annoying and I find myself fast forwarding through the crappy music
Why not hinge the headlights from the front edge so that ALL of the light is above the surface of the fender? the hole would be a lot smaller in the area around the headlight and it would look more like 60's, 70's styling
An asymmetrical scallop? I think too much of that embryonic drink has effected your judgement! Great video, hope you fellas feel back to your usual health quick.
There’s a honeycomb structured material landscape gardeners use to neaten up newly created banks/hills? Reckon that could assist in straighten up them curves..
I want to thank you for pronunciation in most part of last videos. If before Ryan started machine-gunning by words like superfast "bowolopoomoobuu" (whaaat?) today I can understand he well. (writen by subject who don't speek english in everyday life :) Belive to visit you, "Make it Kustom" or Grind Hard team in real life whenever with my metal shaping machine ;)
You need to make the lights to pivot from the bottom not the centre as you have done and you will not need to scallop the panel and they would fit and look better.
you are evoking that era in more ways than you think, its not just the aesthetics of the car, but also with the setting of just 2 guys guys in a simple garage with lots of pasion and love to shape metal into something really cool and thats what i and for sure many others will consider it the missing piece of reaching the perfection you are looking for. Also seing my comment on the video lol
A lot of RU-vidrs are to proud to accept constructive criticism or practical suggestions… well done guys. Theres a wealth of knowledge in the comments in between all the crap 🤣
all the work they are doing is surreal.... very few would do it. I know you have your taste and the car is yours!!!! Don't pay attention to my opinion. I don't like the option of opening the optics, for me, as this is my project, I would like to maintain all the functionality of the headlight in case of driving at night, and with as little space as possible while maintaining the neat and beautiful line of the front of the car.... and it gives the feeling that something is in "shadow". In fact, I also don't like the headlights on the so-called Ferrari from which they were inspired, which completely mischaracterizes the front of it
If we all start unsubscribing from these grifters they'll soon learn not to force unrelated shite down our throats during their videos. F you guys, and your "sponsor"
Go ahead and pay them directly for their content then. I'm sure they'll be more than happy to send you a sponsor free video in exchange for your funding to keep the lights on, pay for their labor and materials and rent/ mortgage.
The design of the rear end is still Mitsuoka Orochi - level bad, guys. 'Number 5' looking surprised is the other association, which comes to mind. Sorry to say.
Love the project but I have to say, although I like the 993 headlights, I don't like the way the scallop is needed to fit them. I am sorry in my opinion they are not pop up headlights, they are rotating/pivoting headlights. I think a pop up headlight that rises and moves forward in the opening would make the lines work better without the need for the compromising scallops and light that isn't fully visible. Having started with a ground up sportscar build many moons ago lights and openings are a nightmare but I look forward to next weeks installment.
Hey Ryan and Tony! How are you? I’m watching “Slantnose” series again. I wonder whether you sell this body kit or if is possible to buy a Slantnose full conversion made by you. I’m moving to Canada in November and I’m looking for an old Porsche. Thank you!
The quality of your content has elevated SO much since getting a dedicated camera operator. The interactions feel more candid and genuine and the production feels polished yet grassroots without feeling overly professional like a Horsepower TV episode. Seriously great job guys. I know you must be grinding like hell on this with the long hours but its so worth it! Also the choice of music with this episode absolutely nailed it! The only critique that I have is the sponsor segments but I totally get why you do them and that its just necessary to cover overhead, materials, and employee pay. Just be careful with the sponsors you accept, particularly with supplements like the one you had this episode. For example supplements don't have to conform the the same standards as food products in the states under the FDA and are inherently difficult to regulate and even harder to enforce regulation upon. This leads to many companies making false claims about both what their product does and its contents with room to legally get away with it. If they end up in hot water over it and your add is baked into your video that can be a bad look. Just looking out is all. Keep it up!
