Does it need a pre amp to work if so , buy putting it through a boss reverb pedal will it work this way

Wouldn't wrap it round the rod - I'd use a cable tie or tape. But if you have to stick it to the head - I won't be instaling one.

won`t work on my banjo . 12 " head with only 12 hooks, [too far apart ]t - i think that`s pretty typical of open back banjos . guess i won`t be buying this

Then you're screwed when you need to change heads!
