There is an article published in the NY Times about the FAFSA FIASCO. The problems are continuing. It’s an informative read. Looks like an investigation will be done to get answers as to how this roll out went so wrong.
In the terms of agreement the agent or ED handling your application will use your information to contact the IRS and retrieve that information. I don't read terms of service much, but THIS is 100% one that I always read and advise all others do as well. It just saves you from getting any surprises down the road.
Hi I messed up on the parent contributor part. I failed to add my dad because when I first filled it out his phone was not working to make an account. Now I can’t add him. What should I do?
My has completed and signed his part but when it sends me the email to complete my parent portion, i go sign in my fafsa user name and pw Nd it showed my FAFSA information from over 20 years ago when i was in college. How do i resolve that.
Make sure the email that the invite is being sent to is the same email useful for the FSAid. The name, email, DOB, and SSN need to match exactly. Also, it's taking 7-10 business days for FSAid's to process, so if you just created the FSAId account, it may not have processed yet.
Thank you very much for your collaboration. Please, after completing the student part of the Fafsa, how long will it take for parents to receive the invitation to continue the form?
Once my son signed his portion and the invite was sent to me, the application went right to “in review”, and no longer accessible for me to sign and consent. What this video shows is how its SUPPOSED to work and not how it’s actually working. Very frustrating. Hoping the schools are aware of this FAFSA fiasco and don’t penalize the students and their families.
@@radashell7720 Wait till it goes from review to “processed”. I understand at that time you can complete any missing info. I believe they will process by the end of the month. Hang in there, so many people going through this.
Is there an issue that you know of that is preventing the Student signature? when i click on the signature drop down arrow it show a date for signature and then there is an arrow pointing to the right, but it doesn't allow you to do anything in that space. It also appears that the parent cannot do their section unless and until the student signature is there.
Has the student created their FSAID recently? It may not have been processed yet, which would prevent the student from signing and submitting. Otherwise, it may be a glitch. We're seeing numerous glitches around signatures. Most are resolved by logging out and back in later.
I had the same issue and I skipped over to the parents contribute part and once my parent filled it out and signed it gives the option to either return to form or submit click return to form and once everything is filled out and you press submit it should make you sign it before it submits. Hope this helps
I have a question about the Fafsa. I put my mom as my contributor and Also the one filling the parent part. I also put my dad for contributer. I invite both of them. They are married together and also do taxes jointly. Does my dad needs to do a fafsa ID and fill out the fafsa too?
I’m a parent, I cannot get past the accept invitation, we tried clearing the history, having the invite resent, rechecking all information making sure everything is correct and still cannot get past the accept invitation page. When I select accept invitation the pop up comes on to confirm and nothing happens. I’m just stuck at accept invitation. What should we do?
Try going right to FAFSA.GOV and logging in with your (the parents) FSAID . Once logged in at the top, you should see "pending invitation" or "consent requested of you" and be able to proceed from there. The site has had lots of glitches, so keep trying.
So I was actually able to find out that once the application is processed the parent or the student can go back in and add their signature. So we are waiting and checking for that and will than go in and fix that. They might also send an email to the parent letting them know to add the missing signature.
I am a parent and I am trying to sign my son's FAFSA, but the system continues telling us that "You don't have any cases or applications". On my son's side it says that 2024-2025 case is pending under review and unless is it not signed by the parents it won;t be considered at all, I called with no results, emailed FAFSA, try to chat with them and no one replied. It is very frustrating, I am afraid to miss the deadline. What would you recommend to do?
If you submitted the application on his side and is pending review just wait till it has processed. Once that happens it will allow you to re enter and add the signature. Still very early on you will not miss the deadline. Just stay on top of checking to see if it processed than take it from there.
I am a student made less to $2K / year so I did not file the tax returns but I have open Roth IRA for the income I made from working. Do I need to include that Roth IRA balance in "Current Net Worth of Investments, Including Real Estate"
Yes! If you haven't submitted it, you can go back to that section. Otherwise, you will need to wait until the FAFSA processes, and then you can make a correction and resubmit.
I'm not sure what the question is that you're trying to answer. You are required to list your high school (or the high school you graduated from) even if you are already in college.
My parent is creating an account yet in the contact information section it doesn’t accept the existing mailing address we’ve provided and even after countless attempts of continuing the process. 😢
My fafsa only asked my mom like four questions and it was all about foreign income. It never asked us questions regarding taxes and the forms we were supposed to use. It made me submit because it said we completed it but I'm very doubtful that was my entire fafsa form, it took us both five minutes to complete it. I don't know what to do helppp
Don't panic. With the new form the skip logic only asks the students/parents questions they need, rather than asking everything of everyone. When you parent agrees to providing consent on the form, the tax information is pulled in on the back end, you don't need to enter it manually. You can check your answers once the form processes and make any corrections if needed. It sounds like you did everything you should have! 👍
Yes, if you haven't submitted it, you can go back to that section and edit. If it has already been submitted, you will need to wait until it processes to go back in and make the edit. Either way, you will be able to go back.
Unfortunately, we aren't in control of the actual format. We are providing resources to help you complete it. Try accessing the site between 8am and 8pm EST when there is less site traffic. We're finding more students are able to successfully complete during those times.
when my mom enters my dads information for “Parent Spouse’s or Partners information … it says this “Information Entered Does Not Match Our Records The person you are adding to this form may already have a StudentAid.gov account. Except for the email, all information entered on this page must match that existing account. Please confirm with the person you are adding to ensure accuracy.” My Dad does not have an account only my mom does. What should we do?
When my parent fills out their portion and selected Married(not separated) filled jointly it asks for “Parent Spouse's or Partner's Information” but then does not allow them to continue. Gives error messages “Unable to Complete This Action Thanks for your patience. Currently, the system is unable to complete this action. Please exit the FAFSA form and try again.”
We're seeing the form glitching around this question. FAFSA is working on the issue. We recommend trying to access the form between 8am and 8pm EST when there is less traffic on the site.
I am having the same issue, on the financial section it only asked 2 questions and I put $0 for both but for part 5 it asking agin to provide partner’s info but my partner did joint
Im having the same issue it won’t let me pass the parents spouse section and the same error is popping up for me, Can you let me know if it’s fixed for you
I received my student's invite email. Clicked the link on the email. It took me to the login page on the FAFSA form. I logged in with MY FAFSA ID and there is no invitation page, and nowhere to enter my parent information. We have entered all the correct information and this is our second year completing the form. Is there an issue with parents who can't find where to complete the form?
I had the same issue I submitted the student side hoping my parent would be allow to sign then but it ended still not letting her. Hopefully they fix it.
So I was actually able to find out that once the application is processed the parent or the student can go back in and add their signature. So we are waiting and checking for that and will than go in and fix that. They might also send an email to the parent letting them know to add the missing signature.
That may/may not be in the parent section. The new form had more skip logic built in, so it may not ask every question that it used to. If you see green check marks on each section before submitting, you should be fine.
I clicked "Yes" on the Direct Unsubsidized Loan and didn't get the contributor section of the Fafsa. Can I ever go back and re-edit back to "No" I had misread the section and I'm panicking
Don't panic. Once it processes, you can go back and change that answer to "no". The question wording is a little tricky on that one, so read it carefully. It will let you correct it.
I loved watching this, and seeing the students get on great looking bikes and being gifted with laptops. As the one student said, Champions has given her everything she needs to be successful in college! Wish I could have been there to see all the smiling faces!
