Thank you for your comment. I couldn't reach the target on the landing, so I slept until the end to improve. I do it occasionally. I still need to practice more. I fly an average of 1 to 2 times a month, so I want to fly more.
Yep, it was clear from the windsock and from the direction that the other glider landed in that you were not landing pointing towards the wind. I have done far worse though... and I am not approaching 70!
Wow. Turbulent air and bad camera setup makes me sick. I think it wasn't that turbulent but the pilot overreacting makes it looks like. Less speed will make flying in such conditions more comfortable.
There were times when it was worse, but I am now 70 years old and my body is not in good condition, so I can no longer control it. I apologize for the unsightly video.
@@skyhighjp exactly right , plus the endless landing zone guaranteed a forgiving approach . I'm not remembering a large flat LZ like this in 30 years of flying , buildings , trees , powerlines , rivers , lakes and cow fences were always reason for last moment excitement , even at top condition days :)
It looks like not enough speed on your approach. I float in ground effect longer in a Falcon 3 than you do in this video. With more speed, you should have more controllability. You were already on the right side of the control frame when you got into ground effect.
You have more control authority when your hang strap length puts you lower. When I flew a T2 I was barely above the control bar and it worked out great. Try that out and you probably wouldn't go back to using a high hang point.
Thank you for your information regarding the hanging points. I have a standard hanging loop with a standard harness line, so to go lower I would need a longer hanging loop than standard. Did I make a longer loop? Sorry for the trouble, but thank you in advance.
Kudos for posting! Good landings come from good approaches. This was neither, but you already know that. Initial positioning was too close to the LZ, leaving you to come in crosswind. We've all been there, and hopefully only damage was to your pride. I bet you don't make the same misjudgement again 😅
The rope on the right is called a VG rope, which is used to adjust the wings. By the way, if you pull it, the wings will spread and the performance will improve, but the control will become heavier.

One of "those flights"; Soaring gracefully like a bird or smooth as Superman. Not so much! More work and angsiety at the office than pure joy of flight. Maybe I shoud go and land ? I wonder how that will end ? :) :) .
It's far from a perfect landing. Is it wrong to set the flight here by lowering the spa log and rod to increase speed? I think I'll put it back next time.
Veo aquí dos cosas, precipitación para aterrizar, incluso con viento lateral, velocidades sin control...mucho o poco, su posición en el triángulo....muy baja. Si bien es cierto la ausencia de viento al aterrizar, debería usted entrar tras una aproximación correcta con velocidad suficiente, aprovechar el efecto "gradiente" y hacer correctamente la "pérdida"...no pasa nada...a todos nos ha sucedido.
Super cool video. I almost tumbled on a sport 3 a couple of weeks ago in Mexico. I bent a downtube in the violent snap, and I thank God this did not affect the structure but nonetheless I was able to land.My mistake flying full VG in totally rough air
@@skyhighjp Not at all! I have a bad shoulder which hurts when pulling the VG cord...I thought I could get away (and did for some time) leaving VG on all the time but found out the hard way on the wrong day.....never again!
Is it a shoulder injury? Please take care of yourself. I too have been diagnosed with a "torn tendon disc" in my right shoulder, but as I am 70 years old, I do not want to have surgery, so I have left it as it is.
If listen on the take off. You can hear such turbulence winds. Also flying site terain landscape looks of the turbulent kind. Weather climate around the world is not on the normal side of things too.
Check the windsock at 09:30... You clearly landed with cross wind, seeing also how the right side of your wing went up first when starting the "flair".
Thank you for your comment. It wasn't that bad considering the more intense airflow, but the difference between the top and bottom of the vario was significant.
