Hi Amy!! Thanks for watching. This is how I am (like your husband) :P luckily I am dating someone who is a planner and it has been inspiring more lately to be a better planner myself. Hoping to turn this around in my friendships this year!!
Safe, autonomous and free. Time to live and do what you want, make a lot of sense. Not a lot to clean, take care or fix. 👍 With minimalism and designed 4 tiny spaces, like boat... 💐Can get even better🧿 Thanks 4 sharing🛩️
I think no decision is the wrong decision... you are young and in the making, still figuring things out, that's totally fine :) the skies will clear up soon! You are doing great! I am glad you are feeling better now! (I moved to Paris 3 months ago and it was the best decision I made...and btw I know the struggle of a stranger finding an apartment in Paris :SS)
Good morning happy Monday morning and happy fall day vlogs and I hope you having amazing holidays and this was amazing video I enjoy your channel because you are amazing Supporter
Hi Kristin! Thanks for putting together this vlog. Through my PC service in Guinea currently I can definitely relate to some of the themes surrounding experiencing loneliness during times of life transitions and living abroad. Keep being resilient and vulnerable as you work through things. Prayers and best wishes for you ❤
Hi Jace :) Yes, I think times of transition always bring out this haunting feeling of "why", and "will it be worth it?" Thanks for your kind words of encouragement and I am sending my best wishes to you too <3
I know this feeling quite well... after I graduated from high school I actually never really had that feeling of community again. That feeling of belonging and having a safe space where I could just be the way I am and feel accepted... I also wonder if this ever will occur again or is it just not a part of modern society anymore...? Everyone is doing their own thing, we are freer than ever but with it maybe comes the feeling of loneliness...
I think about this a lot too... will we ever feel like we truly "belong" anywhere again? I am sure the answer to that question is yes but I can't help to think that maybe people for the rest of their lives, no matter how long they've spent in a place, how do adults truly cultivate this feeling of togetherness as they grow older> I wonder a lot too about this generation since we are all so prone to moving so much/away from our families.
exactly... I just turned 30 and wonder how can I cultivate and build a community as an adult since it's not happening naturally anymore...@@kristinehlert
I have feelings of loneliness as well. What I missed the most were people who had known me for 20+ years. I first met people and they were kind and nice, but they were much younger and we didn’t have shared life experiences except being expats in France.
Hi Amy :) thanks for your comments I hope you are doing well! I agree, I think the trust that is built over 20+ years of shared life experience is really priceless. I've noticed that trust just takes more time as an adult which is interesting.
Im definitely out there and sometimes loud... My dad used to say I would intimdate men haha no wonder I didnt have many boyfriends, the one true love , he had to let me go, he couldnt commit.. Lost love is the worst. ❤
Thanks for sharing Jeannie <3 lost love is hard to deal with, but I have always found that sometimes certain types of love aren't meant to last forever
Hi Ana!! SO excited to hear about your upcoming move. I turned 26 in March. This video was filmed last year when I was 25! If you have anymore questions, don’t hesitate to reach out on my Instagram 🫶🏼 sending good vibes for the move!!

We had help with insurance and visa with my husband’s company. However, we didn’t have an apartment before we got there. Took us 3 weeks to get into a place. Welcome back to France and bonne chance pour crocheter le sac!
Yeah, I realized once I got here that I just needed expatriation insurance... since I get the securité sociale. So all the stressing wasn't really needed :P Thanks so much Amy et merci pour les bons voeux :)

Hi Kristen good morning happy Wednesday morning and I hope that you having amazing day today and happy new year to you and your loved ones and I hope you having amazing day
Hi Kristin, I am currently a TAPIFer and live in a very rural town and it is quite lonely. I just have a question because I am deciding on leaving the program early. Were you planning on teaching or pursing French after finishing TAPIF? When you were teaching, did you teachers have you create your own lessons or were they provided to you?
Hi Jaidan! At the time I was not considering teaching or pursuing French after finishing the program. I actually was looking to go back into nursing which was my original life "plan". But then the pandemic hit and I realized that I wanted to pursue a Masters in French and international education. I had to create most of my own lessons, and it varies from academie to teacher to school what they expect of you. I mostly did the program to be able to travel more and to sort of get a "break" from the hustle and bustle of the past 4 years of undergrad. Also, I am sorry that you are feeling so lonely in your town, it is definatley something that they don't really warn you about before starting the program. If I may ask, is there a larger town near by? If you want to consider living in France again (but not do TAPIF) you could consider a Master's program there as well :) just an idea!
@@kristinehlert Yeah, that's what i have been hearing; the pandemic was especially difficult on some TAPIFers. I live in Malemort-sur-Corrèze and one bigger town I often go to Brive-la-Gaillarde, but I guess theres not a lot of "life feeling" for me here. France is a beautiful place, maybe just not the place for me to livvvvee, you know? Thanks for the reply! (-:
