That was a couple years prior to the 335th Reunion at SJ in 2016... I think I recall hearing of his passing through that. Sorry for your loss. My father confirmed that he knew your father and that he indeed was there on the date of this flight, though on a different target. It would be his second to last mission before shipping home. Thanks again for sharing this audio recording.
That was great. Thanks so much for sharing. Sounds like they are dropping laser guided bombs, "Ho ho ho, fat Al is away." My dad, Dan Blake, was with the 335th and 336th at Ubon in '72, perhaps flew with your dad. I've got some of his audio tapes that I'd like to get digitized. Do you mind sharing the service that you used?
Hey Dan! We lived on base at Seymour Johnson AFB. I suspect yours and my dad flew together! I only know the names of a couple people who were friends of my parents. I think the Squadron Commander for the 335th was Shockley. He was our nextdoor neighbor. I have some audio equipment here... I digitized it myself. I have a few more do to. It's time consuming!
@@wildmustangart1577yep, I remember SJ very well. We lived on Bolling Drive. Dad passed away in 2009, but mom remembers your dad’s name and Tolbert. I’m very impressed that you did the media conversation. What treasures.
He was a stray cat from my neighborhood… We believe he probably suffered a cat bite and got an abscess. It’s been assessed by a vet and cleaned up and now he’s on antibiotics healing nicely.
I was at Ubon on a munitions loading team from April-October 1972, deployed with the 4th TFW from Seymour-Johnson AFB. I had “arming crew” duty many times, so I know exactly where his plane would have been parked near the end of the runway as they waited for them to finish so they could takeoff. This really took me back, thank you for sharing it! I would plug my headset in to ask the pilots to verify that all weapons switches were in an off position before the guys went under the plane, so it’s very possible that I talked to him at some point, which makes listening to this all the more awesome for me!
Yeah, it sure sounds like you would have bumped into him along the way… I’m pretty certain he was there between April and October 1972 with the 335th. Thanks for all that you did!!!
All the photos that I have from my dad when he was Ubon of 4th TFW aircraft look to be parked on the transit ramp. At least the Rocketeers. Did they move them into the revetments?
I wonder if that was related to the sh**ting around I-70 between 25 & 270 the other day. But it's the random unmarked cars that cracked me up. A Ford Escape? Toyota RAV4? And a Ford Focus?
That nonsense on I70 & Park Ave was on Friday, this video was captured the Tuesday before...so I can't see any way it would be connected. Someone else pointed out that this video was recorded in Aurora and those Marked units were Denver PD...so... NO idea! ...and the first unmarked car that went by me was a Murano... a MURANO! lol... I guess if you're going to be incognito, that would be a good pick.
