Just installed one, a few more tips: 1) For wooden doors, the hole should be 16mm to account for wood shrinkage. I recommend going from 4mm > 6mm > 8mm > 10mm >16mm drill bits. Apart from the 16mm they should come in most HSS drill bit kits. 2) Due to the way my wooden gate is constructed, I had to use chisels to cut out rebates in the wood in order to get a flush finish. It's much trickier to get the outside hole lined up, but I managed as I started with small drill bits. When tightening the screws the lock may warp slightly due to the plastic. So I loosened the screws just a little bit so as to ensure when the outside button is pushed, the latch swings open freely without resistance. This also resulted in a few little gaps around the lock and so I used some exterior sealant to make it more waterproof.
@@RecursiveDimension Burglars target the low-hanging fruit. Having a tall gate with spikes that is lockable adds to the layers of security you already have. A lot of burglars also case the house before the burglary, and keeping them out is just as important.
seems to be an issue... just installed and won't lock from either side. but be sure you have the opposite key out when you attempt to lock as it seems you cannot lock it with both keys inserted.
But can any one commenting here tell me where to actually get the 30 mm auger we need for our concealed hinge we bought from this co. No one at the distributor (CIA) we got them from will tell us where to get the darn thing so we can actually install it! We only see them online in the UK, on Amazon or RU-vid, taking too long to gets here for our needs! how can this be?? How can you sell a product with out the specialized item needed to install it!!???
My hinges weren't tight enough, so after tightening it seems to work, but the bottom one is making a pop-clicking ratcheting sound as it auto-closes now. Top one is fine, is something wrong?

I was planning on installing this as an entrance to my back yard from the street. I was looking for a lock that allows exit from the inside to the street without requiring a key but entrance from the street to the inside to require a key. Does the LokkLatch Deluxe allow me to do this? Or does the locking mechanism lock both sides and requires a key to both exit and enter?

Thanks for your informative video. Are the MagnaLatch locks also "self locking", so that they are always locked except when the key is inserted and turned? My local pool code requires locks be self-closing, self-latching, and self-locking. Thanks for your help!

Our MagnaLatch units are self-latching and will self-close as long as the hinge side is self-closing, but this latch will be manually locked and unlocked with a key. We do have one self-locking latch, the LokkLatch Pro SL. A key will be required for both entry and exit for this particular self-locking latch. Is there a way to set up this lock where the key can not be removed in the unlocked position? In other words, once you open the gate, you have to lock it to remove your key? Anybody know?
Hello Brian, Our MagnaLatch allows for the key to be removed in both the locked and unlocked position. The cylinder in our unit will only operate this way, and cannot be adjusted. Are there any type of locks that can be used for two swinging gates.they both open inwards. At the moment I've just been using a padlock to keep them secured together

We just installed this latch/lock - once installed we closed the gate & now can not open it. The latch is unlocked, but won't budge, so we are unable to open our gate.

The first time the latch is unlocked some force will need to be applied with the key, until you feel it pop to unlocked position. Please suggest how to get the snap on covers that. Have come off to snap back on and stay on...I have three gates and four covers that will simply not stay on when you try to snap them back over the screwed hinge

Ross, both latches work well on privacy gates around the home, but the LokkLatch DELUXE is a bit larger and beefier and also offers high-security lock cylinders that can be rekeyed (by a locksmith) to match your front door lock etc. The PLUS is ideal for Privacy gates, and the DELUXE is more suitable for Privacy/Security gates.
D & D Hinges are arguable the best in the market. But the screws are no longer included with the hinges. Self tapping screws have to be ordered separately, it is a big inconvenience... which is irritating because the latches still include the screws. Having said that once I order 1,000 screws I never have to worry about it for the entire year. I think you need to reconsider reinstating that hinge hardware includes the screws. Thank you!
