A very cool comparison. Today (August 2024) the Audio-Technica is cheaper than the Boya. What about outdoor recording? Which of the two microphones rejects sounds coming from the sides and back more? Thanks!
Thanks for the review. The AT sounds much better I think, but it would have been better to hear them side by side, not with you talking in-between on a third mic. Anyway. I just picked a 6040 up a few days ago, it was about EUR 70. I was a bit afraid it would be money down the drain, but calmed myself saying that the accessories in the pack are worth 50 or so at least :) But honestly, it is quite a usable mic, especially with some EQ. It is not on par with my Sennheiser MKE600, or even the Rode Videomic NTG, but, I like the size when boomed in my not too tall room, and probably cardioid picks up a bit less echo from the concrete ceiling than my Sennheiser.
*I love My Lark M1's as I also Have the Rode Wireless GO II and Don't plan on getting rid of either of them. Only thing I can think of that's a Con is no ability to attach a Lavalier Mic BUT even that kinda is small as this gives AMAZING quality Sound to me*
That’s for sharing! Using both mics as their standalone unit (no attached mic on the Rode) are you be able to tell a major difference in sound quality?
