Islam can easly switch between standup or grapeling to getvthe finish. His striking flow looks very natural and high level. He tops it with high level submissions near the fence of middle of the octagon, hes ahown that many times. But Khabeeb grappling pressure is on anotherevel i dont thonk islam can beat Khabeeb in a real fight eventhough they will never fight each other professionally
Islam is 99 in every category. Khabib is type of guy “If it’s working don’t fix it” and Maxed Out his Grappling to the point to cancel everything else people try to throw at him. 2 different approaches but same results
Anderson has so many unfair narratives and criticisms tied to his name. Most disrespected out of all the goats. He did WAY more against Demian than both Usman and Woodley did YEARS later but is the only one that gets criticized for his performances. I get it was weird that he essentially stopped fighting towards the end rounds but the first three rounds were an absolute masterclass and he was busting Demian up bad. Usman and Woodley did literally nothing.
Age shouldn't be taken into consideration. If a fighter chooses to fight & he's at the top, he fights the top contenders. Those contenders worked there ass off to be in those positions. Neglecting top contenders for age reason or legacy is stupid & disrespectful. i think Khabibs win over Poirier was better than Islam imo, Poirier had just ended Max's 13 fight win streak and had wins over Pettis ,Alvarez and Gaethje. Where as Islam fought him at the end of his career.
Khabib of course was more dominant than Islam, but Dustin that khabib fought was different from Islam. Dustin at the night he was fighting Islam was the better version of him, he trained hard preparing to defend Islam’s take down based on his experience against Khabib, and don’t forget the emotional side for dustin, it was his last chance, and he gave his all.
The Dustin that fought Islam was prepared for everything that night lmao he had nothing to lose. Imo the Dustin that fought Islam was the best version we've ever seen him in, his takedown defense was on point.

@@bigsmall2842 it does look similar, with jon whats crazy is that he didnt have a mentor like khabib to show him the ropes and still got it done somehow, i dont see Islam sticking around in the ufc for as long as jon did, not cause he wont be good or will decline, i just think he will get bored after he's conqured everything he wanted to conquer and move on to doing other things, jon had to stick around for as long as he did cause he wasted years of his prime due to legal issues and then took 3 years to move up to HW, islam wont be wasting time like that....he will beat a few more fighters at LW, wait for Belal to eventually lose at middleweight, take the middleweight belt, defend middleweight a few times against top contenders then retire.....i think at most he will fight 10 more fights in the ufc, but it will be quick, like 3 fights a year without breaks, unlike jon who started fighting once a year or even once every 2 years at stages of his career
Dude Jon is 37 stepe is 42 that's a 5 year difference......tom is 31 thats only a 6 year difference.....and one year dont make that big of a difference
The scary thing about Makhachev is that he hasn't unlocked his final form yet. He is pretty much a rookie when it comes to striking, yet he's already outstriking legendary strikers.
It's his mindset that help him level up really. In an interview he said that his preferred method of winning is to beat the opponent in their own world. That's why I don't agree when casual lump Islam with other dagi. The man challenge himself and take risk.
@mkhai-sm5bi that's what separates him from other top fighters or even his teammates. His mental toughness and unshakable spirit are something else. He likes to overcome his self-doubt from what I can see. He proved that in the first fight with Alex, when he went to the enemy's territory without his closest cornermen, Khabib and Abdulmanap, on his side. Then, gone toe to toe with Alex on the feet for the most part of the battle despite being a "crotch sniffer," as fans like to call it. He's a dog for sure.
It’s the threat of takedowns lol. He’s not a better striker. Khabib’s opponents didn’t know much about their level of wrestling so they didn’t care much. But now the opponents know that Dagestanis are dangerous wrestlers so they fear takedown so don’t put their 100% into striking,

It's not that far from Khabib's..difference is that Khabib had incredible top control and ground n pound. Islam goes for more submisions and has better throws.
Because khabib fought with cans, when he started fighting with real guys he started losing rounds and then ran away. He fought with conor who has 0 wrestling lol
