VanShades offer a great range of blackout and insulated privacy covers and pop top wraps for the VW campervan market as well as our own unique Window Pods® camper van blinds system.
Founder Pete Staniforth and his wife bought a semi-converted camper and set about putting their own stamp on it. The learning curve was steep but they managed a self build project and really enjoyed the process. They enjoyed the process so much that they started VanShades.
Our products include:
- Window Pods® Blinds System - Window Pods® Select - Splashbacks - Screen Covers - Insulated Pop Top Wraps - Furniture
VanShades now offers real choice to the customer, as such our screen covers and Window Pods® are available in a wide choice of colours making your campervan as individual as you are.
Wish I hadn’t watched this video .. Sikaflex all over the carpet lining of my T6 😢 Do yourself a favour if you’ve bought one of these and think carefully about whether there’s a better way to secure it. After I’d stained all my carpet with Sikaflex, I decided to use tech screws along the top as they are hidden behind my overhead locker .. and then made brackets to support the bottom as mine sits behind the worktop, not on top - which means Sikaflex can’t hold the weight on its own. For such an expensive product there ought to be another option than glueing it on!
Brilliant kits these. Jack sorted me when the Camper Glass fouled the opening door on mine and made a new moulding to space them out slightly. Couldn’t be more impressed with Vanshades.
Seen a few videos with these now, look canny but im struggling to find any showing access to slide window latch, doh. Im not keen on the tech screws, more so when you dont run them fully down negating any clamping force. Its an easy fix i suppose but id hope a solution would be incorporated so that i didnt have to fit, remove, measure and make packers/struts then refit. Probably over engineering it but my OCD would let it go.
It does look amazing. Are you doing anything for the new crafter. Or can I purchase a universal (no specific panel) and mount to my own wall material Thanks
Thanks for your comment. We currently manufacture for VWT5&T6. We are planning to start design and manufacture for the new shape Crafter early 2020. Like our social group on facebook & Instagram to be sure of product development updates
you prolly dont care but if you're stoned like me during the covid times you can watch pretty much all the latest series on Instaflixxer. Been streaming with my brother for the last months =)
If you check out our website www.vanshades.co.uk you will see that we offer 2 ranges. The blackout fabric is a pleated fabric. There has to be holes that allow the tension wires to pass through the fabric. The cellular thermal fabric has no holes due to the tension wires passing through a cellular honeycomb core. No holes - no complete fail.
Not the same product i'm afraid. If you want to put plywood around your windows instead of molded ABS plastic with blinds that are not bespoke made, That have no thermal properties then go ahead. Not to mention the time it will take you. Cheaper alternative yes, but then again you can watch a movie on a black & white TV.
Are these available for other van makes? i.e Citroen relay or Sprinter etc. I'm looking for a van to convert and this product would be on the top of my list for the door window.
Hi Carpenters Daughter, Whilst commercial demand isn't as great for other vehicles, we must admit that they would look great in a Vito. Leave it with us....
Well, you can certainly practice on mine! I've fitted curtains in my side window today and it's been a pain in the bum! We definitely are a growing community ;)
