This channel is mainly for Vintage Speedway and Cycle Speedway from my era, the 70's, 80's and 90's, although from time to time there will be current Speedway, Cycle Speedway and local league football from Dorset.
Remember that very well. My parents were at that meeting. My brother and I were doing motorcycle training for the part one test so had to watch it on the TV.
Very special rider in his own right, rode in his big brothers name but had his own talent absolutely fantastic to watch as i did as an aces fan in the 70's seemed to ride for everyone and never ever gave second best
Gerrard ,Cox, mullarkey formidable as a cheetahs fan I'm glad coxie ended up at our place brilliant memories of the national league thank you for sharing
Most people have them rotting in a box in the loft!! These Cine, VHS, VHC and sometimes Betamax recordings need to be saved for posterity. Only through friends and associates can these films be saved. This one came from an ex-racer who lives in Florida! If people keep finding them, and sending them to me, all the Cycle Speedway fans around the world can watch them.
Thank you Heppo for posting this historic classic meeting.. so many riders had a great chance to win the title. One of the two missing tapes have now been found and published for all to see.. very enjoyable to be there in 85 in the crowd and also to be able to watch again all these years later..
Thank you Heppo for posting this classic meeting from a great time in cycle speedway history. So many riders had a realistic chance of winning the title it was action packed throughout... one of the two missing finals has now been found and is available for all to enjoy..😀
There seems to have been a bit of a mistake with this vid. The crash isn't Bastion, it's Kerrs crash in heat 1, hence in daylight. I was there and am quite sure on this one. Bitza
Very similar crashes on the night. The reason for the light change was the 35 minute delay. Plus, the earlier heats were to bright with the low level sun!!
Well hell, you're right, but it's not how I remembered it. I thought that Kerrs was heat 1 lap1, and that Bastians was heat 8 lap 2. Obviously I would make a lousy witness, sorry for casting aspirtions on the vid. Bitza
Peter Collins was suck a special rider. He seemed to defy physics at times. Lee, Jessup, Olsen, Peter Collins, Ivan Mauger, Kennett...etc. What a lineup!
When I was a kid, I had a major depression after this heat, rewatching now, 43 years later - depression hits again. I'm Danish, I expected Ole to win each and every heat, nothing else was an option. I was traumatized when Penhall took than win, and the title - not letting traume hit me now, but still - gggggg. What a terror Penhall was, what a terror.
