Darren have you tried taking the Big White road to the 201 then on to Nevertouch lake then down to the Christian Valley road? It comes out at about KM65 on Christian Valley Rd. Thanks for the video.
I've done the Valley of 1000 Devils hike twice now. I absolutely love the east block, there is very little tourist pressure, you feel like you're in a different world.
Just found your channel from Instagram this evening... Absolutely obsessed with your work. Sparked something in me I haven't felt in awhile. Stay safe and keep up the work x
Darren I have always loved your story. It’s always been so fun to work with you and just like be around you. Watching someone who is so passionate about what they doesn’t seem to ever get old.
Watching it on my TV. Awesome video! Thanks for sharing just a question. I think you are suggesting that for wildlife, western section is better, but it is more visited also?
Still using this setup? How's the power loss and gas mileage with the Eagle? I have the same truck thinking of picking up an Eagle. Id be using it on alot of cross country trips.
Hey! Absolutely. I love this set up. I only have airbags.. the rest is stock and it rides smooth. Gas milage sucks.. but it does without the camper. : ) It took me awhile to find an eagle.. and love it. I don't think you will regret it.
This trip is on my bucket list. 🪣 Hoping to see the northern lights, photograph the trip and dip my toe in the Arctic Ocean in Tuk. Were you worried making the trip solo ? Did you rent the vehicle you drove up to Tuk ? What is the music at 3:46 ?
I did the trip twice solo. I am used to travelling solo so I thought it was the perfect trip to do alone. IMO. This trip had some sponsors.. I flew to whitehorse and had a rental waiting. I am ready for my third visit!
Nice rig! I have had different set ups over the years and some were Canopy set ups. I have been using full size trucks instead, usually SuperCabs with the 6,5 ft bed on them. I have often pulled travel trailers, but I got back into fishing and I pull a 10 ft Jon boat in an enclosed trailer most of the time or a Sun Tracker 20 ft Pontoon boat. My current project is going to be a new F150 SuperCab with the Pro Power Onboard so I have a 20 amp plug (2kw) with 2 outlets. It works with the truck and the truck stats up or off to charge the system as needed. I will be putting the FWC Project M Canopy on it. I will (mostly already have) build the interior of the box out myself. I have some old maple and oak plywood in 1/2 and 3/4 inch thicknesses. There will be a Dometic refrigerator on a triple tray slide out that I will use to cook outside on as well. The water is a free standing set up I have used for years. Originally for a stove etc, but I altered it to work as a plug in sink/water stand. I carry up to 4 jugs like you have in the cab & box of the truck. It has a pump and everything. I can hook it up to my external propane powered water heater. This shower/water heater will mount on the side of the Project M. I have a 175 watt solar panel (flexible, but will silicon glue onto the camper flat so there’s no wind resistance) a 240 ah Lithium 12 v battery. If you don’t have lithium, you may want to get one. Over the life of the battery, it turns out to be cheaper than lead acid or AGM batteries as you get several thousand charge cycles instead of a few hundred. One 100 ah lithium battery (which will fit easily in your camper and is about 23 lbs vs over 80 lbs for a 105ah lead acid battery) will last almost 4 times as long as the same lead acid or AGM battery. This is because you get the full 12 volts for about 80% of the battery charge life vs about 40% (if you are lucky) on the other batteries. Running your fridge off grid will be no big deal. Does your fridge run on propane as well?? I know FWC is a bit notorious for not offering that option on the refrigerators. lithium is a big game changer in camping!! If you want to splurge (as they are really expensive the bigger you go) a 240 AH or even a bit bigger will likely fit in the space provided for your camper battery. You can still add a charge controller to allow you to charge off the truck battery as well. Make supper it is rated for lithium though. The pop up is so simple. Your interior on the camper is quite functional as well! Can’t beat a set up like that on the Tacoma. Make sure the rear leafs are ok as it’s a bit of a weak point on the Tacomas. There are many packages out there to improve the weight carrying capabilities of the Tacoma. You are probably at or exceeding your truck’s payload capacity once all your gear is in it. Looks great!!
Seriously awesome setup! I just bought an FWC Eagle Shell Model in Colorado- I was having a really difficult time finding videos of the setup and would love for you to keep updated videos of your camper. I’m picking my Eagle up in 3 weeks. Maybe I’ll see you on the road!
Just showed this to my grandma who lived in Tuk during the early 70’s. She was quite pleased to see it. Brought back many memories. Thanks for sharing!
