Many complain about the Ultra Jazz Bass V because its B and G strings are too close to the edge of the neck. Does this really cause problems while playing?
Would recording studios rather have the older pickup or the newer one. Will this be on their minds...or will they still just say its a fender precision and be okay?

I'm 54. Up until 9 months ago hadn't played an instrument since the sax in 6th grade, save some banjo lessons 10n years ago (which I have also resumed learning.). LOVE the bass. And GNR is my all time fave band along with Queen. So, of course Duff and Deacon are my fave bassists. I currently have a Squire 60's Vibe P and a Schecter Riot-4. I bought the sunburst version about five or so years ago. Leaning toward a traditional look, I added the chrome covers, swapped the stock pickup for a Quarter-Pounder. Waiting on some Fender 9050 flatwounds to replace a set of D'Addario tapewounds. The Classic Vibe 50s Precision Bass is a really solid instrument. Vintage mojo without taking out a second mortgage.
In the mid 1990’s Fender Japan did a semi-hollow P-Bass called the PBAC-100, both fretted and fretless. It had what this bass is missing; a wood bridge with a Piezo pickup. This would have easily been a contender if it had the wood bridge and Piezo pickup. Why make a semi-hollow bass and not use the additional character hollow bodies bring?
You did a nice job on this video. I’ve played and gigged as a bass player for 30 years. I occasionally try a short scale at a music store. They’re fine for what they are, and they fit certain styles of music and work for certain players, particularly those who aren’t really full time bassists but others who would like to learn and play a pretty good instrument that has small scale. For me as a player with a certain range, technique (like slap), and already having Precisions and Jazzes as well as five string Jazzes, Stingrays and upright, it’s not really a useful instrument for me. But, again and I think bears repeating, this is a good demo. Well recorded, thoughtful and fleshes out the most likely use of the instrument. As nice as it is, any short scale bass will just end up sitting largely unplayed for me. Even as a guitarist, I’m used to the 34 inch scale on bass, and will stick with that for its familiarity, playability, feel and sonic advantages of that standard scale length.
