I think another contributing factor in the drop has to do with the problems with FAFSA and the delays in financial aid packages. I’d also suggest participating in college-type conferences. I’m from California, so connecting at College Advising Corps, CSU Conferences, UC Conferences, high school collaborations. They especially like student testimonies on how it has helped them (could be socioemotional since that impacts academic performance). Finally, collaborating with educators to provide alternative outreach efforts can be useful. Just a thought since I work in education :)
Am 25 and been at current company for 2 years. I don't wanna see myself visiting leetcode again for interview practice. Surely Intermediate - Senior should be hired based on actual technical skills and soft skills but still they still gon hit you with the most CS questions ever
Hey Jed! I've been following you for quite some time. I didn't know you left the corporate world for quite some time. I guess I'm the opposite of you- I've been working as a SWE for the past two years and am looking to make extra money on the side. Would you mind sharing with me here (or private DM) about your freelance coding gigs? I want to explore that area :)
i think the reason i like your content so much is because you are rooted in reality. you have an awesome knack for all things creative but you know how to switch gears and lock in when it matters most, and given your cs background, it helps viewers like us who have 9-5s relate to you more. great stuff jed
dam im kind of in the opposite situation rn so it's good to hear your perspective on this. I've been in the industry for about 4 years now after graduating and I feel like I'm just in a cycle where I'm rotting in corporate america and I want to take a break before going down this burn out cycle but don't have the guts to pull the trigger bc of the benefits so I"m just in this state of not being happy at work but not wanting to stop LOL
Jed! I've been watching you since high school. And once I graduate I joined the air force and now I've been stationed in Guam for almost two years. The times you came back , I was always on a trip somewhere haha. I hope I run into you in Guam before I move; been one of my biggest inspos!
I've been watching you since covid, and the thing that made me a subscriber is your software engineering vlogs....you inspired me to do comp sci and now I'm a software engineer! thanks Jed:)
