"The Sky Surfer" This channel is to show some of the Aviation and other Movies I have made over the last 30 years. I hope you like them and pass 'em around. Make sure to check out my WEBSITE (fitzvideo.com) and SKY SURFING - THE FLITE BLOG (fitzvideo.com/skysurfing2/)
This is my favorite of Brian FitzGerald's videos. His videos keep me motivated to get my own QuickSilver. Flew it for the first time this year just yesterday.
I can tell you I was flying with Jim Mc Cleay in Oct, we had an engine out at 400’. We went down like a rock in someone’s back yard! Broke all kinds of stuff on it and my tail bone!
That is very interesting. PPCs don't have much of a glide ratio. Lots of drag. I have some newer stuff on my website you might like. Check it out here: www.fitzvideo.com/Pages/POVs.htm @@Treasuremonk
The interview you watched is actually part of a larger movie regarding PPCs. You can find it here: www.fitzvideo.com/Pages/Launch_Ultralights.htm But, even more so, I have a number of pieces regarding Ultralight Flying that you might like. The main page is here: www.fitzvideo.com/Pages/Launch_Ultralights.htm@@Treasuremonk
You must get good images of the hexagonal Sun Simulator above the clouds/chemtrails. If you film it through a welding lens, it is obvious to behold. The real Sun is eclipsed so frequently by incoming Nemesis System planets, you will rarely see it now Notice the Sun Simulator has a blue hue and hexagonal perimeter shape which is obvious from casual viewing from the ground with sunglasses.
I think I found my new favorite channel! Fellow musician, here. I hope to soon be a fellow ultralight pilot. Your videos are definitely giving me some inspiration. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks, Ben! It is good to know that people like this stuff. Let me know if I can be of assistance as you join the sport. Be sure to get some training.
Check out these guys: www.air-techinc.com ALSO. I have more of these epic journeys here: www.fitzvideo.com/Pages/POVs.htm Blue Skies & Tailwinds!™ The Sky Surfer
Thanks, Brian. I appreciate the feedback. Since you like "Harper" you should check out my other POVs. I have nine more and you can check them out here: www.fitzvideo.com/Pages/POVs.htm Blue Skies & Tailwinds!™ Brian FitzGerald - The Sky Surfer
Thanks, John! The countryside and the wildlife make The Flint Hills of Kansas one of the most interesting landscapes anywhere on the globe. Since you liked "The Fall Fandango" please be aware that I have produced 9 other POVs like it, each with its own particular charm. You can find them here: www.fitzvideo.com/Pages/POVs.htm Blue Skies & Tailwinds!™ Brian FitzGerald - The Sky Surfer
Thanks, Ed! That's the kind of thing I like to hear. By the way, I have 9 other other POVs like "Harper" that you might like also. The best way to find them is to start at my website here: www.fitzvideo.com/Pages/POVs.htm I have also produced a number of documentaries on Ultralight Flying and Classic/Vintage Aircraft - all reachable from my website and all on RU-vid. I have started populating them to Rumble also. Please let your Buddies know! Blue Skies & Tailwinds!™ Brian FitzGerald - The Sky Surfer
Had a close call while flying near Seattle. Barely missed unmarked high tension wires. No matter how safe you think low flying is, taking chances like you are doing is dangerous. It's only a matter of time when an unseen hidden wire, God forbid, may get you.
Dear Jay, Thanks for watching. I have never encouraged anyone to fly low like I do in these movies. Consider this... My airspeed is 38mph and I have awesome visibility out front of this pusher airplane. An important thing to note is that when I give my rationale for flying low, I ALWAYS make it clear that I am making a movie. You would not have watched it if I flew to Harper at even 500' AGL. It would be paralyzingly dull. I could go on regarding production values but... I am intrigued by your experience "...while flying near Seattle. Barely missed unmarked high tension wires." From that I am assuming you are claiming said high tension lines were not on the map. So, what? Are you really telling me you did not see high tension lines in front of you because they weren't on a map??? Again, what does that have to do with it? Were you not looking around? Frankly, high tension wires are HUGE compared to the low barb wire fences I am looking for. I have done 8 of these POV movies and never had a scary moment because I am constantly scanning ahead. How could it be any different? Remember! Ground speed and visibility have everything to do with this subject. I suspect you were flying a much faster tractor propeller airplane. Flying at 38mph is vastly different from flying 80mph or more. Besides the ultralight, I also own RANS S-12 that will do around 90mph. Flying it, even when I am out here on the prairie, I stay at 500' to 1,000' AGL. 50mph faster makes all the difference as does being behind a windshield rather than looking through clear air. Frankly, my main concern when making the POV movies is the tendency for 2 stroke engines to fail suddenly. So I am very careful with maintenance and have a plan for engine out landings (of which I have experienced 6 while flying a Quicksilver before finally buying a Rotax 503 DCDI!). I appreciate you looking out for me but I want you to know I have explored this issue A LOT. Additionally, you can take a deep breath now. After making 8 of these POV movies - I am done with that phase and on to other things... Blue Skies & Tailwinds!™ Brian FitzGerald - The Sky Surfer
@@BrianFitzGerald-TheSkySurfer I did not expect such a lengthly reply. I watch many flights on youtube, some at lower altitudes. Most are short flights, none as long as yours. I find all are interesting. I never forgot my close call and my level of fear rises when see a close to ground flight. I can see you are careful. In the past us oldsters just jumped in our planes and flew off without checking maps in a somewhat familar area. Most of the high tension wires had large, orange billows, not the ones I almost hit. Might have been new construction. I almost forgot a friend who had part of his face sliced open by a wire fence upon landing, to small to see. Just a small scar left. Good luck with future videos. The ones you made look good. I flew around St Helens before it blew and took 8MM films. I don't fly any longer due to advancing age, loss of coordination among other problems with my health. I could still fly but why take chances with time span remaining. TAKE CARE....
@@jgs3456 Thanks for your thoughtful reply. I lived in Sacramento when everyone was waiting for St. Helens to blow up. I just saw in my NRA magazine a company is selling some blue jewels they are calling "Helenite" that have been recovered in the area after the blow out. Too bad you gave up flying. It is a little cold here right now but I was thinking about grabbing some air in my enclosed S-12. As I opened the hangar doors the wind was pushing against them too hard. I checked and it was was a gust around 18mph. I can fly in that stuff but decided not today. Maybe Saturday or Sunday. Thanks for watching my movies! Great philosophy regarding the tubing structure: The strength is in the geometry.......the welds are only there to keep the tubes from moving around. Neat little plane!
Sad news to hear. Sure am going to miss you Brutha Brian. Sure am going to miss your vids, but understand at the same time. Maybe one day, you'll rethink this decision and surprise us all. God Bless!
Dear Dave, Thanks for the uplift. I still fly a lot but just don't have any fresh ideas for the Quicksilver POV concept. I'm thinking I must do a movie to show you all my Solar Hangar. Stay tuned! Blue Skies & Tailwinds!™ The Sky Surfer
Good question. You are the first to notice that I didn't end this movie at my home base. Actually, I did return home a while after this landing. Between you and me... I had to take a leak!
Dear Ken, Thanks for your concern but be certain that The Sky Surfer had that situation completely under control. Frankly, if it had surprised me I would have told you that in the movie. If you are interested in more of these POV movies, go here: www.fitzvideo.com/Pages/POVs.htm I also have a lot of documentaries to watch with subjects such as Ultralight Flying, Classic/Vintage Airplanes, Rockets and The American Muscle Car. I'm glad you liked it, Skip. By the way, I had the great fortune to visit Kerry back in the 1980's. It is quite beautiful. You might like some of my POV movies. Here is a good place to start: www.fitzvideo.com/Pages/POVs.htm Blue Skies & Tailwinds!™ Brian FitzGerald - The Sky Surfer

If this is an original 427 SS then it is NOT an Impala!!! Simply a 427 Super Sport! There are no badges on the car saying Impala . It is titles as a 427 SS
Thanks, Doug. BTW, I have had the great fortune to visit your islands on several occasions. Hard to beat! Dear Mr. Wagner, I am glad you found this adventure. One of the neat things about these movies is that you see them as they happened. With my POV series, there was no scripting and thus you get a sense of what the joy of Ultralight Flying is... That being said, if you want to see some more, I have another seven to watch. The best way to get to them is to start on the webpage jump off here: www.fitzvideo.com/Pages/POVs.htm I also have many other documentaries on subjects ranging from Ultralights to Vintage Aircraft to Amateur Rocketry and The American Muscle Car. Hi, Lilli. This is Brian FitzGerald. I haven't seen Bob in quite a while but I think he still lives in Udall, Kansas. I fly by there all the time. Maybe I'll drop in this summer and see what he is doing and tell him you said Hi.
It has to do with the large number of competing vibrations coursing through all helicopters. They tend to manifest at one spot in the frame and in this copter they show at that foot petal.
Yes, you got that right. As a fellow Aviator, I know you understand. I still have the Quicksilver and now own a RANS S-12 that I fly a lot also (100 hours last year). I plan to shoot a movie about it and my Solar Hangar this Summer. Stay tuned! You might like these updated versions of "MXing It Up". I call them POVs and they are in High Definition. See what you think: www.fitzvideo.com/Pages/POVs.htm Also, I have three documentaries on Classic/Vintage Aircraft here: www.fitzvideo.com/Pages/Launch_ThatThey.htm Blue Skies & Tailwinds!™ The Sky Surfer - Brian FitzGerald
I grew up in SE Missouri….my father owned a 43 V77 just like yours….he only recovered the wings and horizontal stab….then he sold it in 1979-80 I think….was curious if you might have purchased this V77 from father in Iron Mountain Mo…Dove Field….???
Sorry but you have reached the producer Brian FitzGerald. I haven't seen Dr. Boehme for a number of years but he told me he sold the Stinson quite a while ago. Maybe you can locate him in the Northeast Kansas area.
Dear Abel, I'm glad you liked "Harper". I have 7 more movies like that.
