I'm still not convinced about Ancient Forest, it also stops you from attacking with Tytanial... I haven't watched the full video yes but can you explain the reasoning behind Skill Drain? Against what decks are you using it?
I picked up 2 amaryllis at RBET NY off Matt and I bought the last one to try this list. I’m so excited to get into amaryllis and plants and this video is both so helpful and inspiring to how much fun it can be. Thank you for the sick vid boys and congrats on 3rd place Luca
@@LilManYGO yeah same thing as before man, music is way too loud. If you can't reduce your music low enough to hear the audio then don't have it. Good chat otherwise, but i couldn't really listen past 15 minutes.
Heya brother, this is Antoine. Great job on 2nd, you def deserved it, one of the best duelist of the tournament for certain. Hope to see you at more tournaments.
agreed, but if you bluff too much you get called more often just like poker. i had seen him bluffing a lot so i knew i would have to take the risk to use heavy--the same way he took the risk of setting 3 unprotected. you are right though its the game we play YUGIOHHHHH
Good games dude, and awesome meeting you. I was your round 3 opponent and I caught your top 16 match. I watched you open triple debris in game 2 or 3 and let your opponent take back their entire turn after they realized their colossal fighter wasn’t able to attack for game bc of life point discrepancy.
Haha yeah to me it’s not that serious, I don’t want to win to something like that even in top cut. Fun games I know you were probably kicking yourself over the vayu misplay in that round but you played well, hope whoever you were with in top cut made it to top 8 for the invite!
@@itsmorphdaddy yea I was definitely tilted the rest of the day but ended up winning out until some funky stuff in round 7. Pretty sick experience for my first big tournament. I feel you though, I’m the same way with never sharking. Hopefully I’ll see you at the next one man. Definitely stop flipping the coin unless you like going 2nd g1 hahahahah
I love your list and ratios, I’ve been trying a similar one but I always feel Sorc and the 1 of Oppression clash with each other, how have you liked them?
you have to be smart with the oppression and understand when to set/use it based on whats in grave and whats in deck because sorc isn't the only confliction there is also DAD, return, and gorz
Congrats Rich, glad to see you do well at this event after a great performance in Maryland!! Upgrade your RFTDD to a 1st ed DPKB for that sweet sweet old border I beg of you 😭
bro I don' t trust quickdraw players that say they had to read nitro/turbo/junk. Nitro warrior is insane and leads to lethal plays constantly. Junk archer lets you push for game decently often, and turbo warrior may be sort of niche, but he gets past ryko & monarchs & lets you get over enemy stardusts/goyo's with a 6 synchro quickdraw play. You gotta know em.
I get what you’re saying, and btw I said it mostly tongue in cheek, but it was a long day so yeah I am 100% double checking what Turbo says before I summon that shit haha.
I played during hat, got my invite at a regional actually before prio but after dragons of legend with a chaos soul charge kuribandit deck (my finest work ever probably 😂) My literal only gripe with HAT is yours which is set 5 pass. I don’t even hate soul charge cause it makes combo decks very good and also gives your opponent a chance to get over it. Like you I play mythic rulers and then mermails are really fun :)
I played HAT at the time and it was glimpse of good YuGiOh in the middle of terrible formats. In retrospect, it aint that great, its just carried by nostalgia because a lot of people came back or started playing at the time.
I really wish HAT format made the cutoff for the no first turn draw rule, die roll seems super important from what I've seen. Been playing it a bit last couple weeks tho and it is very fun so far!
As someone who played Hat format when it was current, I think it’s purely nostalgia goggles. Thought Vegas was healthier, but even going back and trying that now it just wasn’t the same. People will get bored with riskless backrow setting eventually.
Interruptions in Vegas are much weaker though since there aren't Ring of Destruction on legs in it. It's true that you set a lot but there are ways to make your deck more resilient to traps.
I haven't played much Hat myself, but I'm happy to see people trying out more formats! I think that's the best way to keep people from getting burned out, as if you just play one format, the flaws of that format eventually can start to get under your skin.
I think there's more than enough space for a third big format, and I've always been a proponent of 2014 options. However I don't really get the mentality of those who treat retro formats like this weird form of progression series, where the next one makes the previous formats obsolete. It was only a minute ago that some big names abandoned goat to play edison format, and now edison is already stale? What happens when hat becomes stale? Are we going to play the second half of 2014? Are we going to play 2015 charleston and necroz format? And what then? What's the end game here? I think more established options for retro formats are needed mainly so that some form of rotation can be implemented between these formats in locals and official side events to keep the experience fresh. That's one way to future-proof the game.
I mean, there is a third big format already with tengu plant. I think the big formats is goat, edison( so tired of edison lol), tengu plant, HAT, Toss. Maybe Sept 2012, and meadowlands is up there too.
I played solid from teledad format through nekroz. Hat was fun, but a bit of a slog of a format. The diversity of the format was a big plus for sure. Pre shaddoll and burning abyss is certainly the best era of yugioh by and large, if you ask me I want sept 2011 format, with formula monarchs and full tilt plant synchro! But no love for that unfortunately.
Yeah, I remember hat format. I didn't like it at heavy storm, and Stratos were banned. Why, don't know but when the Dragon Rulers came out that's when I was not playing Yugioh
The format could be the most perfect on every levels, if there is no one to play with, Im not gonna play it. Everybody should keep in mind, Edison format is not what made Edison, it is also -the hard work of content creator and event creator -the lucky opportunity
I like the diversity, the issue is just the same with all of the game in that everyone just plays meta, OP gears and the OP hands, etc. not much room for the more diverse decks to cook, which they totally can, like gustos. I think a whole new side to a format can come in through revitalizing an existing one like Edison by banning the meta decks or OP cards like dust shoot in tournaments, ex there was one tourney where imnerd banned BWs since as you said just no one wants to play against that, its eventually going to be devolve to this state with all other formats. Ex Morphtronics in Edison are actually strong but no one plays them bc why do that when you can just sack someone with LS
@@MrYouSerious for sure, nothing wrong with that. the issue is the company always made things unbalanced (via ban list and making new power creeping cards), to varying degrees thru the formats, for the sole reason of maximizing profit. my main point is that we the players, now grown up and fully cognizant of this, should re-design things and formats to better suit us and the community, trying out our own ideas like custom ban lists and rules like he alluded to with the modernization clause touched on. personally i thought it was gentlemans to not play dustshoot in edison when i got back in
I feel like you and I have different perspectives on retro formats. You're trying to find a balanced and diverse format and I'm trying to optimise my Deck as best as I can. Also, you need to take into consideration that these formats are a niche within a niche. When people want to play YGO, they now mostly come from Master Duel, Duel Links or are nostalgic. Also, another thing regarding retro formats, they're mostly alive because they allow a wider pool of players to compete due to the lower entry point (most Decks cost less than 100€), so now a lot of them are able to compete with meta Decks and actually win. To get a custom format up and running, you might think you have the best intentions, but you need to get other players on board. Maybe you should organise some kind of prized event to draw players in, because if I'm already going to play a custom format, why should I play your vision instead of mine unless I might win something? Fotoshooti did that for Tengu Plant and now they're doing that for TOSS from what I know. Maybe I'm fine with sacky elements because it is a card game after all, it should have some luck factor involved. Maybe I like certain Decks most others dislike, so why should I play a format that is going to affect me?
HAT is a great format. Control mirrors are always very fun and skillful, and of course, extremely interactive. Combo decks kinda ruin it for me, but they're only really good if they go 1st and open well so it's fine
I'm skeptical of hat being a good format, but I have no experience playing it so take that with a grain of salt. As someone who goes to that local in TX it's a decent compromise between the boomer crowd and the modern crowd though so it's resulted in 30+ person locals. I could see that being a big factor in the bigger picture especially whenever modern format is not enjoyable
You can say that about any format though, in the end it’s all subjective. Look at goat, somehow some people consider that the best format, when there’s only two real decks.
