I'm on the final boss (the lady) and she is tough. PoP did well for me on my channel. 3K views of the final boss fight and 1.5K views on my review, all when I might have had 40 subs. And it's just a great game. I gave the base a 9.5. Great update video. I agree, it's not S tier. But it is a solid A
I didn't care for the dlc area that much, but the bosses were good. I liked the platforming challenges of the divine trials more, were those included in the game on release, or where they added later on?
I loved the Lost Crown, the unique abilities and combat, what kept it from being a classic to me was the narrative feeling like they lobbed off a whole character story they painstakingly introduced to sell to you later. I also didn’t care for the lore the world was trying to build. I am glad the DLC ties up loose ends but I’m 8 months past having beaten it don’t feel like relearning the platforming and feel DLC should be there for when people want more of a good thing not to complete a game experience.
Artaban's ultimate attack is scarier than anything Radjen brought forth, and she is prime horror as is. Remorseless blue-skinned murdergimp that has a skill for performance the likes of which Voldo could appreciate.
I loved the base game. It was just below Hollow Knight for me, in the same bracket as Blasphemous, but I might skip the DLC. I suck at platforming, so I might not enjoy this as much as you do. I am more combat orientated which is why I never could complete Celeste.
man, i know this has nothing to do with this particular review, but the same issues on switch happened to me in Afterimage. Before the last patch the game runs ok-ish, but now is just a cracling mess of sound and stutters. A shame, but i have it on PC and on the Deck is perfect. Also, kudos man, without you i would have never discovered Afterimage. Is pretty great.
I just finished it and for me it’s like a 6/10. I am a mv-maniac, so I played a lot. But I didn’t like the story, level design felt a bit random at some places and the quests are hard to finish, when you aren’t really into the story. Also I didn’t liked that it kinda needs some hours till the gameplay feels a lot better. But I still had fun. There are just some better ones out there for me. Biomorph kinda surprised me
Hmm. I'm still considering backing it, it looks really neat, and the music is great, but I dunno... I never been much of JRPG player, and I still got ton of other metroidvanias to try... This video for sure made it more tempting.
Hey man, dev here, thanks for trying out the demo, love the vid its funny and very entertaining, you got a sub here, next year we will release a long 3 hrs demo for the main game, i would like you to try it :)
Hail to you, Guru! As I watch this, I just want to say, this is an mv that just destroyed its KS early (as you mentioned), but not only that, they even released some cute plushie merch as well! This is a looker, that for sure, an insta-like for me
Heya Guru, great reviews (and hot takes sometimes~!). Ive only played a few games here, but willing to try the rest. I havent played Dandara for a while, but I jammed out on it when it came out. The atmosphere and art did it for me. The unique movement took a while to get used to, but I eventually cleared the DLC with only 1 death (loved the Iga cameo!). I then made it to the last boss in 3 deaths but holy hell; after many attempts, I ragequit the game. I dont have alot of tolerance for a boss that refuses to die and has 7 or more phases, instead of just being a more challenging but more...compressed experience. What a nightmare, it reminded me of the true last boss of Black Bird; another one I came SO close to beating but due to them just un-accepting defeat, bested me. Animal Well I like fine but I HATE that it was positive-review bombed upon release, just shows the dev didnt have confidence in their own game. It was its review then and there on Steam that I saw Steam reviews turn into the equivalent of Rotten Tomatoes, and Im still surprised I havent seen many talk about it...because it shouldnt ever come to that. I dont care how much you enjoy the game, there's comment there saying "this is THE best game Ive EVER played". Youre allowed to have your opinion. But EVER in all of gaming? Thats bullshit coming from a bot. I like how the game teaches you to speedrun it, but as a completionist kind of hate the fact there's missable items. Its like; ok game, I can do deathless, I can get that "one item" otherwise blocked by the death-skulls, but it goes way above and beyond with the collect-athon, and it has some absurd puzzles; akin to "those two last" puzzles in Tunic. If you know, you know. So yeah, imo, overrated and bot-review spammed, but its fine. Tmv~
For Animal Well, a lot of Dunkey’s fans spanned the Stream reviews with inside jokes and goofy reviews. A lot of people were upset they couldn’t actually tell if the game was good or not. It’s probably not an issue anymore.
The story and map of this game was pretty lame, but the graphics, presentation and the gameplay kept me hooked til the end. This game engine would be amazing with some better design.
I immediately turned off the white outline 😂 wth is that? A jizz layer? A semen marinade? Man nectar? Anyway. I love the game's vibe, it kinda makes me feel like I'm a kid in the early 2000s, which very few 2d games do.
I didn't have an issue with running out of trions. Most rooms have junk you can destroy to loot. You can also use trionic nibble on enemies that walk on walls to milk them for resources.
Totally heart broke scattered millions pieced Facepalm after end play blasphemous 2 It's not blasphemous anymore Totally castlevania system 😴 It's loss identity
