They conveniently forget to tell you about the VOC (off gasses) produced by the bonding/adhesive agents in the flooring composite that is as toxic as hell. Yes, 'cork' is natural, but cork flooring is very toxic to your home environment and a very dangerous product! ..........its all about the money with these people!!!!!!!!
would cork floors be advisable in kitchens and bathrooms as well? I am planning on using both cork floors and earthen floors in my new home construction, but don't know if that would function together.
If you spill any water on it, it will shrink like a sponge ... Bathroom - absolutely not due to water exposure ... kitchen- high traffic area but doable.
Well 100 % sustainability would mean cutting cork from tree and placing on floor with no other process. The enormous amounts of polyurethane. skim coating, subflooring. contact cement, etc, would make cork flooring far from being 100% sustainable.
I love the look of hardwood floors but I have pets. I worry about scratches and urine stains. Can I get the look of hardwood? Will I get dark stains if my pets have an accident? Is it expensive? I was also considering wood look tile because of its durability and easy cleanup.
