Yet what a fine name it would make! I must go through the Deed Pole Office and change my name to Zabkowice Slaskie-think how impressive that would look in my passport at Polish customs! By the way, the town of Zadkowice I have never heard of but slaskie is an adjective meaning Silesia, I was in Katowice not long ago in late June and that is in Silesia also. Slaskie is an adjective in the neuter singular so ja jade ku temu slaskiemu miastu would mean me going towards that Silesian town. Incidentally, how are the Polish language lessons going? 8.28 Again, you have a masculine singular adjective 'stary' plus a feminine singular noun 'kopalnia' so should it be 'Stara Kopalnia?' I have never been there so I do not know but I understand some of the basics of Polish grammar.
Like many Brits, many Poles love to hate their country, or at least criticise it in public, but they will become passionately patriotic if you agree. :) I'm a ne new subscriber of your channer and an expat of a kind - I moved from Cracow to Warsaw years ago.
I definitely see this trend! I honestly believe that Poland has a lot to be proud of as a country and I love exploring more and more, I would hope to see the whole country over time 😅
I live here and I didn't realize it's so relatively good and clean. I am that pesimistic one I guess. We were used to being poor and politicians being corrupt and we've grown to hate that corruption. 😅 Some of us are misguided as to who does that, but most of us hate that eastern corruption as a way of life. The safety is relative toguh. Wemen are scared sometimes at night and conflicts do happen. I'm glad to hear they're relatively rare. And we drink way too much, though 20% of young people declare abstinency! I'm among them so I like that trend a lot. I think alcohol caused a lot of our problems and bad reputations.
Definitely the country is cleaner than most, I’d say most people take pride in not littering and the public services are doing a good job, there are also so many bins here compared with the U.K. for example! I think the corruption is there but is improving, it’s always a tricky subject 😅 As for safety, I think this has to be one of the safest countries in the world, I’ve heard of very little trouble outside of drunken incidents, though no place is completely safe I’ve personally always felt very safe and welcome here 😊
@@michalwandas3743 makes sense, it seems to be one of the main places for tourist groups for sure, when looking at trip options…I was saddened that a lot of the cool sites in Lower Silesia have no tour options 🙁
@@britinpoland2392 Maybe not all the sites are safe for tourists but that's only my assumption. If I remember correctly the Castle was at some point one of Hitler's headquaters during Poland's occupation. The secret nazi Bell project took place not far from there in Riese Complex.
@@michalwandas3743 I have a future video on the Osowka site of the Reise complex, the main issue I have getting to these cool sites is relying on public transport…and it’s not so easy to get to a lot of the cool places in the region 😅
A nice video, you obviously saw much more than I did though I only spent one evening there. I should go back the next time I am in Poland and try and see more.
I think I spent about 2/3 nights there, was following recommendations from friends and relying on the tourist map a lot back then 😅 My approach is very different now, I try to mark everything I want to see on google maps before I go now 😁
It is honestly sad that videos like this don't get more attention. I drove from Bergen, Norway, all the way to Sweden and took a ferry to Świnoujście once. I am highly considering doing another trip, and seeing more of its culture and history in that surrounding area. Very nice video mate! Regards from Norway.
@@RoamingwithStu thank you 😊 comments from people such as yourself always help to boost viewership of my videos! There is so much to see in Poland and I hope to go back to this region one day as there are many more places of note 😊 Regards from Poland!
@@PotatoCannon-fy2sm very much so, there isn’t all this stuff pumped with artificial preservatives like in the U.K., generally you are better off if you can cook here as ready meals aren’t so much of a thing Restaurants are very high quality no matter the cuisine in my experience also
A nice video-you certainly saw a lot more than I did but I recognize many of the places around the city centre that I also visited. I was only there for one evening but my hostel was right on the main square right next door to the main Rynek where you were standing at the beginning of the film.
@@michaelmckelvey5122 I tried to be through when I went, I think your accommodation must have been nicer than mine…I had so much noise from that street I had trouble sleeping 😅
Swietokrzyskie is wonderful so much to see and do , the region is rather poor in investment but nature beauty and history compensate ... For lack of 5star hotels and commercial attractions .
@@user-hk4kd2md5h I’m yet to find any Polish blood in my bloodline, though hope some turns up some day, would help explain my attachment to this country 😅
I do not know if you have done such a trip but even Katowice is interesting. I was in Czestochowa last week and took a train ride to Katowice and spent the night there. It is known for coal production, or at least it was but today it is a vibrant city in Silesia. I did not know what to expect but was pleasantly surprised, just a little hot walking around outside in Poland last week with temperatures reaching 30C! anyway, I am sure you can get a direct train from warsaw to Katowice and the new modern Polish trains are wonderful and clean as well as very comfortable.

Hi, I like that your commentary is more factual with good footage rather than others saying the place is nice/ they love it, etc. And good work on Nadodrze! Good to see areas less featured on YT. Are there any areas in Nadodrze which are not safe to go to or stay in?
Thank you for the feedback 😊 and glad you enjoyed the video! Actually from what I hear Nadodrze is quite a popular place for accommodation now, I can’t say if any area is unsafe, to me everywhere I go in Poland feels safe 😁
Yes, when I saw the price it sounded a bit high, but for sure it’s actually quite reasonable when you think about how much it would cost to go to a theme park in the U.K. only extra hidden cost was for the lockers, but that was like 14zl for the whole day which again isn’t so bad and only 1zl for the map, felt like a bargain! Of course as expected food and drink is a bit of a premium as well there 😅
Gosh, I hate these silly comparisions! Pulawy is not the Polish Athens, it's simply Pulawy, a lovely town. It's like I said York is the British Brussles or so. It's really annoying and stupid.
@@wrotamas It is also strange really as at 1.13 he says ''...and yes, it's a very green city...'' every town he visits in Poland is a city, even a small village where as we say in Polish: 'tam gdzie psy dupą szczekają.'
hi Brit in Poland i been to poland and i fell n love you f the country also the polish made me feel welcome the question i need to know when the uk gets more worse i be looking to move to poland but now iam in my 50,s now how can i do it.
Honestly I’m not an expert on immigration to Poland, but I came here to work and had a job first, so finding a job here would be a place to start if you are planning to move. Though I would check the governments official page about moving to Poland first to see requirements
Puławy is the biggest Polish city located on the Vistula river between Cracow and Warsaw. I appreciate that you decided to go there - not so many Poles are aware of the importance of Puławy for our history and culture. I also think you should come back there to see the museum located in the Czartoryski Palace, the temple of Sybilla and the Domek Gotycki.
Thanks for the clarification, now I understand what was meant by the size of the city 😅 Agreed, I was sad to miss the museums on that trip, I hope to go back one day so I can see them properly!
The trouble with all this is the question 'do you always want to be a foreigner in Poland?' This is what the expats in Spain on the Costa Blanca do, eat fish and chips together, play bingo and have karaoke evenings. Personally, I would rather speak Polish in Poland with my new found Polish family, otherwise return to good old Blighty. It is all a bit like the French Foreign Legion without the blue uniform!
I want to be a hybrid, be able to use the language but keep my identity as a Brit, my roots are still in the U.K. as are my family and that is important to me, yet simultaneously I can embrace my new land and the customs here…improving the language as I go 😅
Yes that would be fine, at the end of the day it’s an events based group, so people who in Warsaw and wish to join our events are welcome to come along 😊
