There are no plans available for this boat. I did find hull drawings on a website I’m sure if you do enough digging they might still be out there. I basically built this boat off of pictures and videos posted online. Look up Matt Layden Enigma. Thank you
Come and join us for next year’s Texas 200. We have many group sails throughout the year posted on our Facebook page. Looks like one is getting put together for Labor Day weekend at magnolia beach.
We had all types of wind. North south east and west, also up and down 😂 Wet wind was very popular. So were the wrong winds. But it was better than being at work!
The mosquitos were really bad at army hole. Professional mosquitos. I consider myself very lucky because Chuck gifted me Looney Toon at the end of the trip. The adventures will continue. Thanks Roy
I was originally going to build the Jim Michalak Frolic and had already ordered plans when Chuck mentioned how about the Toon 19. After spending a few days on it I would have to say it’s a very capable boat, and after sailing a hobie 14 on this year’s Texas 200. The Toon has a comfort level that’s beyond my expectations. I’m lucky to be chosen as Looney Toon’s new owner. Can’t wait for more adventures.
Its tourist people that need comfort to have fun. Thats why they have to constantly have to pay someone to travel.plus have to use someones gas to do so.
You mentioned "bare sticking it"... not sure what that mean. You did seem to be moving with no sails up and the outboard out of the water, or no out board. Was that with the current?
Winds were probably 25 at that time and gusty. It was blowing the direction we wanted to go. We could sit on the beach and wait out the storm or cover some ground. There is enough mass with the boat and rigging to move along very quickly.
We should have shaken that reef out at the end but we were exhausted. Wednesday and Thursday were two 14 hour days sailing well into the night. Friday we spent over 2 hours in Saloria pass tacking and fighting a current just to get out into Matagorda Bay. We were shot from spending a week on that boat. But it was fun!
Nice stuff Will, those back rest are superb. Also, did you add those reef points? I recently picked up a Hobie 14, the hulls worthless, but the rig still in good shape in it’s bag.
Yes I added the reefs myself. Pretty much didn’t use them this year because the wind was light or on the nose most of the time. I’ve thought about building the Woods Quattro 14 hulls if I keep this boat. Next year we be sailing Chucks Looney Toon in the 200. It’s a Jim Michalak Toon 19. I’m pretty excited.
We were moving pretty good for being loaded down. We only used Navionics when we really needed it because we had limited battery life. So I have no idea how fast we were going but it was fun!
We’re between the mainland and barrier island on the southern portion of the Texas coast. So we have some protection. It’s called the Laguna Madre and is one of only a few hyper saline lagoons in the world. It’s very remote in some places and the wildlife is amazing.
Thanks for taking us along for the ride. I'm a Hobie 14 guy also and I know the challenges of taking a journey like that with a passenger on a H-14! - well done. I'd like to know more about your back rests - I have never seen anyone do that.
Thanks for the compliment I’m glad you liked it. I have enough video and pictures I should be able to put a video together on backrest, reef points and everything I did to this boat to get it ready for a week long trip. I’ll try to put it together soon.

Love these two sailors🫶🏻 Beautiful scenery, sunsets, frightening storms and a few scary times sailing in the dark - yikes! Congrats on another epic brother-sister sailing adventure…again!
