Recumbent Chronicles documents my journey into the world of recumbent bikes, trikes, and (perhaps soon) quads. After my back injury, I was no longer able to ride my mountain bike, which was a great way for me to exercise. After discovering the joy of recumbent human-powered bikes, trikes and quads, I am once again able to ride. Recumbent trikes take the pain out of riding, and put the fun back in it.
My wrists no longer hurt from being bent backwards gripping the handlebars. My neck no longer hurts from raising my head up to see where I am going, from a hunched-over position. Even on days when my back hurts so bad I am unable to stand up or walk, I can get on my trike, and do a 30-mile ride. At the end of the ride, my back actually feels better, because the opposing motion of pedaling with alternate legs has the effect of lining your spine back up again.
I want to share the joy of recumbent riding with others.
My first trike was delivered by a global delivery company. When it came, I wasn't there and the box was thrown out onto the driveway. It suffered great damage, one of the drive wheels had a terrible wobble and both fenders were bent into the tires. I called the manufacturing company and reported it. Months went by and I put over 300 miles on this trike with bent wheel. Riding the trike down hill was a thrill with my wheel vibrating radically. The new wheel came and I had to change it. That was my "beginners Trike". Now I wanted a "Tadpole" trike and got it!
Once you ride a recumbent trike, you never go back. I even wonder why they make 2-wheel traditional bikes. I wonder what man would possibly WANT to put his entire body weight on his junk. Just thinking about a traditional bike now makes my crotch hurt. That being said, last year, I was hit by a drunk driver at a high rate of speed, and spent most of last year in the hospital. For 4 of those months, I was completely unable to move. I suffered multiple compound fractures from my feet to my ribs, and had multiple surgeries-- the surgeons were able to use a can of screws, duct tape and hanger wire to build me some Franken-legs. Now I am unable to stand or walk, and it looks like I will be in a wheelchair for the foreseeable future. I hold out the hope that someday I will be able to ride again-- it will be a great way to regain my leg strength.
Greetings from Finland Nice vid. I bought EZ-3-USX-HD in the summer 2023, second hand. Previous owner made 250W front wheel as electric assisted with a self-made Li-Po04. My casual riding with UZ-3-USX-HD need a little bit more speed as my previous Delta Trike (Sinner Comfort from Netherlands Sinner. Retired company) was quite fast. Uphill way faster than EZ-3-USX-HD and better climbing capability. It was lighter than EZ-3 USX-HD and was equipped with a differential for smooth riding. I had to let it go, because of it's age. Repairing it would cost a lot, so i did let it go. Don't get me wrong here. EZ-3-USX-HD is great delta to drive. Very sturdy. Hard to make it fall. Can pull loads of stuff with a trailer. Only 2 lack of it is differential and little more speed. I'm making my own differential in summer 2024 to make even more enjoyable riding with it. Also i own previous version Sun X-3 USX delta trike under steering. Used to connect X3-AX with Sinner Comfort Delta trike. Worked like a charm and it was fun to drive with my wife. Looking to combine EZ-3-USX-HD with AX-X3 in 2024 summer.
I love seeing unboxing of new trikes! The great thing about this one is you didn't have to assemble it. That's a plus in my book! It might need some tweaking and adjusting to fit you, but it was basically ready to ride. Now the exciting part, discovering how it works and what it can do. How exciting!!
Well I have moved on to trikes, and they are certainly easier to ride. In fact I tried to ride a bike the other day and almost fell on my ass, so apparently I am losing my balancing skills for 2-wheel bikes LOL
@@deltafour1212 I don't think they are necessarily faster. The CatTrike 700 is a carbon fiber trike with a 700 rear tire that you can ride over 55 mph flat out. They are certainly more stable and require less of a learning curve. They are my preference.
I have another video where I didn't speed everything up. Just normal speed. And I narrate as I go. Also, I just uploaded another video of Sonoran Sunset Drive in North Phoenix (right behind where I live now). It is just a spectacular ride through a beautiful Sonoran Desert Preserve!
