I could see this play either in a sad scene (the shot from the trailer with Maelle screaming comes to mind) or in the opening (reminds me of Nier's prologue with "Snow in the Summer". Btw if you've played that game pls no spoilers cuz the opening is almost all I know about it) while Gustave explains how their world works.
My theory is that humanity foolishly created the Paintress to try to control the population, but with the years going by and with every year, the Paintress constantly painted a new number of death for that age and when humanity is close to end that's when the yearly expeditions began to hopelessly attempt to destroy the Paintress.

WAHOOOO! Its soo great to see a new refreshing style on the NSMB games! (even tho im nostalgic for them😅) I've started my own playthrough of this game and man, this game is as Jolly as KIRBY!^^ I hope you're having a BLAST with it aswell!!!
As for the mini-crossbow, the idea is to fire a (tranq) dart, then hide behind cover for about 10 seconds or so - all one needs is patience..! Regular darts can be used to distract (human) enemies, who will turn their heads towards where they heard the dart hit a wall. And an overall point regarding the effectiveness of ALL firearms is that EVERYthing will suffer when JC has injured arms - so of course, the greener the better. And as you have the Spy Drone, use it..! Especially in an enemy-heavy map like this one - before rushing in to a nest of MJ12 troops AND big-bottomed robots from RoboCop! (also, I don't know whether it's the same in the GMDX mod, which I haven't played, but in the classic DX, your Dragon Sword can smash open the wooden locked doors on this level)
@@SideQuestStories haha, I see. Okay...more tips: Stealthy doesn't necessarily mean 'nonlethal' - as Sam Carter (the UNATCO Quartermaster) put it: "Engage ONLY on your own terms". And, if you have the night vision augmentation, that's REALLY useful (especially when maxed out). Another random tactic: pepper spray and fire extinguishers can be used to disable laser beams (keep spraying while you crouch through). Also, Sabot shells can be used against security cameras when you're out of multitools.
Okay...soo... Assuming that we can't hire Mitchell's "Evil Genius" to "take care of the MJ12 Harrison situation"... well...I barely know where to even begin...Deus ex has SOOO many different possible strategies...some of which are/were discovered by 'accident'..! e.g. LAM climbing, which allows a player to place LAMs (or equivalent stickable grenades, eg. Gas) gradually up a wall in a zig zag manner and jump onto them to scale tall obstacles (to avoid a difficult area, like the Brooklyn Shipyard in this episode)... As for your current situation...let's see.... I guess the main advice would be to not just shoot anything that moves, like one might do in Doom... Sure, stealth may not be your strongest suit (yet), nor is it as RU-vid-worthy, action-wise...but it would help you avoid headaches and indeed help you get through to the end (as I, for one, would quite like to see).
I'm not sure how to get better at stealth, I'm used to games where it involves a map with vision cones or a grace period to peek or an easy to understand "I'm detectible" indicator. It seems kinda arbitrary in this.
@@SideQuestStories I mean, being something of a DX veteran, I've done almost every type of 'run' imaginable. Fully lethal; fully nonlethal; using only ONE weapon thru the entire game; using melee tactics only; using PS20s only; using rocket launcher only ...the range is endless! I mainly play the Revision version now (which is amazing). they've even added bizarre modes like playing as a Greasel (the little green chicken-raptors)!
That was weird seeing Paul just straight up die, like a mere mortal. Normally in most other versions of DX (not GMDX), Paul is invincible in that NY apartment, and goes around potentially shooting ALL the enemies in that hotel side by side with you (JC)..!
@@SideQuestStoriesHmm... no, I wouldn't say that. I did say it was 'weird'...not necessarily bad. There IS a way for Paul to die in the vanilla DX, (which happens to most first time players). So it's actually pretty 'common' for a first time playthrough, but I don't know why the devs of GMDX made that little change - that doesn't seem like "giving me" Deus ex to ME..! I suppose it's more consistent with Paul's own dialogue only moments earlier about being weak, and having his augs shut down, but it does take the fun outta fighting those MiBs (who explode upon death - it's nice to know that Paul can't die in such an inglorious way!)
@@SideQuestStories If you play on the Epic game store you won't meet another player. Otherwise, if you are online, you should meetup with other players. Watch for a white glow on the edge of your screen to indicate a player is nearby :)
@@SideQuestStories When I first played through it, I didn't know anything about the online component. So I thought that the other characters were NPCs at first
Edit: Initially wrote a comment on how to heal, but it seems like you know. I just clicked on part 2 first and went back to skim pt 1 after. Good luck and have fun with the game.
