I'm just captivated by kurt vile. Been playing guitar for 24 years and I just Adore his style. This dude is the epitome of COOL.... VERY ORIGINAL. THATS HARD TO DO IN THIS MODERN TIME.
Just saw the tour's last show in Norwalk, CT. The version of Check Baby they played was even angrier and grungier than this one, I'd love to see an album from Kurt with that heaviness.
Cant tell if that’s a compliment or not but I personally I think Peyton’s hair looks good this way and I think Kelli looks similar to how she usually looks.
"Our music is sort of rough around the edges. It's ugly. It's ugly pop," says Bighorse. And from the most unexpected of places, a genre is born. Somewhat surprisingly, the term "uglypop" has its roots in an obscure Courtney Love quote. "I weirdly got inspired by this thing Courtney Love said about how ugly people have to actually try hard in life, and I just started writing this song about why being called ugly just doesn't matter." From there, Mayo wrote "ugly" on her forehead in lipstick, and started to embrace the term. "Ugly is such a bullshit insult. Why would you care about the opinion of someone that would be such an asshole to you?"
Love Jeff. But If you were a fan of UT when they were together - which truthfully eliminates the vast majority of his & Wilco’s fan base of today - and you were being honest, if told both he and Jay were eventually going to break up & start their own projects, while it was obvious both guys were tremendously talented, you never would’ve projected Tweedy would become the more commercially successful of the two. But 30 years later, here we are. Anyway, regardless of the present, they’re a legendary band from so long ago now that they certainly could’ve been in one of the favorite bands of your current favorite band’s favorite band.
This is such a great song. Listen to the original on Tonights the Night. Listen to that entire record. On it, Ben Keith's etheral pedal steel is amazing and gut-wrenching.
