Such a phenomenal lecture on Redon. Just when I thought I couldn't love his works any more than I already did ;)

Great and warm lecture, thank you so much, I enjoyed it all the way; Rousseau had such a refined sense of humor which until now I wasn't really aware of...

Glad you love all the details but nobody else gets to see things the way artist created his work. I hTe you arrogant selfish people. Stop distorting this beautiful work.

Would some one tell me why you make videos of artists work but in instead of showing the PINTINGS you show these ridiculous CLOSE UPS , then split second its possible to see the Painting. And I mean 1 SECOND. What is wrong with showing a darn painting, It is SO DISAPPOINTING! screw you

Redon is a very famous artist, that is for artists who love art history as much as creating their own work.

Beautiful interesting video about James Ensor. In the Belgian city of Ostend you can visit the Muzee where an exposition is devoted to him and the still life in Belgium between 1830 and 1930. I share this blog: catherineboone.blogspot.com/2023/12/James-Ensor-en-Oostende-een-bijzonder-liefdesverhaal.html and video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-TyyAmsHhf-U.html about it. Many greetings Catherine

Great presentation! Loved Redon for years... He turns flowers into mystical talismans & his colors have such an electric glow.

Massively underrated artist!!! Kind of an outsider artist really, thanks to the suspected mental illness, and one of the best ever. ❤ James Ensor.

The fact that creatures are peeping in right at the very edges of frame seems very indicative of some kind of psychosis or schizophrenia. It's often described this way - strange figures flickering at the edge of vision.

@johnburman966 Год назад
I don't really see the point of a dialogue when we have no clue about his motives. Something happened to him. Either a spiritual trip or onset of schizophrenia....what do we actually know, as opposed to what we guess with no insight.

Enjoyed the walk through his dream like landscapes. Thank you for striking the high points of his career and the body of his work that many may well be familiar with. Sadly few of his paintings are visible in the States and many will never know the feeling of standing near one of his works.

I think the curio shop influenced his painting for busy, over stuffed compositions and for theme - politics deeply influenced his work.

Some of his works remind me of the work of Frida Khalo (sp?----I'm sure that's not right, but I think you know who I am referring to!) , the stiff figures and odd placements. His art is such a unique mixture of nature and geometry and displays a wide range of qualities----from quite primitive and childish to assured command of his ideas. He certainly had a signature in terms of color, especially in the greens which he can claim as definitively HIS greens. I prefer his landscapes way and above his portraits...or rather his ATTEMPTS at portraiture. Nice to see a discussion of his work, his strange view of the world. Definitely (to me) an early explorer of the dreamy-type of surrealism. Thanks for the video. Fun to see so much of his work in one place!
