All these pseudo glam bands from Louisiana were extremely talented musicians. Louisiana also had some of the greatest cover bands in the world. The problem is that the corrupt Louisiana government was shaking down the movie industry, and the entertainment industry, and so the industry reacted by staying away from bands that refused to relocate to another part of the country. The owners of Disneyworld were going to build Disneyworld on the north shore across Lake Pontchartrain north of New Orleans. The Louisiana government tried to shake them down and make them pay extortion money to them for the permission to build. So they passed, and settled on some property just outside of Orlando, FL. The problem is, the bands probably didn't realize back then that the entertainment industry was shunning Louisiana because of the open corruption. ... ..
Just a little more information Jon and Rob r from Michigan and Ron joined them after the band Ron was in Bittersweet split after Ron getting a following playing all over had a hugh following in the Midwest and they had played at the White House in Michigan. Then the record label morphed those members from Stiff 2 Lillian Axe. Ron Taylor one of the best voices and great performer. Lillian one of the most underrated bands ever.
Yes I am from Indiana and I have been all over lot's of states with them when they were touring. I know Ron and Darren r still playing together playing basically in the south. I'm sure u being from Michigan u know Jon passed away RIP. I believe his daughter still lives on Michigan. Not sure what Rob has been up to. Stevey still touring with new members in Lillian Axe now a friend of mine keeps in contact with him I personally know Ron the best. I had actually took this friend of mine 2 see Stiff at the white house and she lived them but when they joined Lillian she got 2 know Stevey well and still keeps in touch with him. I really lost touch with everyone except Ron. Truly one of the best bands especially Ron and truly they should have been better had the record company handled them better. The music is timeless bur Ron's voice and stage performance just great. Thanks 4 u comments. Such great memories.
I am realy enjoying the old Cyrus footage you have on your channel. I was a friend of the original Cyrus band (1984-85 from D'Iberville area). I would love to know if Mack is still around. I cannot remember his last name to look him up. The original band Sammy Thompson( guitar), James Blanchard (drummer-deceaed) and Chuck Acevedo (bass player-deceased). Would you have any footage of these band members ? Any info is appreciated. Mack was one of a kind front man. I'd recognize his voice and moves even with the low lighting, lol! Thank you, Frances

Wow, it is so good to see Mac on stage. When I searched for a band called Cyrus, your videos came up.I've always wondered what became of Cyrus. I knew them in "84-85 when they used to come to the Baton Rouge area and play at The Rack and a few other clubs. They would all stay at my place sometimes when the Oak Manor didn't provide rooms. Back then it was Mac, Sammy Thompson, Chuck Powell & James Blanchard and LeAnn ran their sound. They all lived in the Biloxi/D'Iberville area. For the life of me I cannot remember Mac's last name. He was married to Patti at that time. I have learned that Chuck & James have passed. Do you know if Mac and Sammy are doing well? Thanks for posting these old videos. I know its not the same band members as the Cyrus that I knew , but there's no mistaking Mac as a front man. If you see him, tell him Frances said hi & wishes him well.
To clarify, Hollywood was the nickname I gave to Steve Haddad many moons ago. He used to live with us while on his journey into his music career and enjoying what he loved to do and that was playing music and was damn good at it. Fly High Hollywood! 🕊🕊🕊
I never had the pleasure of seeing this line up back then. I knew the original Cyrus band formed in D'Iberville with Mac, Chuck, Sammy & James. They used to play in the Baton Rouge area back in the mid 80's and would stay at my place when a hotel wasn't available. Would you know if Mac is still around? I know Chuck and James have passed. I don't know if Sammy Thompsom is still with us and I cannot remember Mac's last name to look him up. I sure am enjoying seeing these videos of Mac doing his thing, lol, he was a great frontman and watching these Cyrus videos sure do bring back some old memories.

The big irony is that Jimmy and Tommy Dorsey's parents were born in America, so I don't know if they had Irish accents compared to Shields and Allgood. Thomas Dorsey Sr. was born in Mount Carmel, Pennsylvania. Tess Dorsey was born in Forestville, Pennsylvania. So we will never know if their accents were similar to Shields and Allgood's.
